Probably done for politics, still very welcome and obvious. The abuse was systemic, sometimes involving local councillors and widespread across many communities. Very specific, usually but not always Pakistani-British men with a disdain as human beings for vulnerable children. A full and thorough enquiry will get to the core issues, hopefully meaning lessons will be learnt nationwide eg by police forces … believe and protect kids!

It’ll be interesting to see the extent to which these gangs were networked across the country.
One of many questions that only a specific inquiry into this specific set of factors could answer.

If a Tory Health Secretary were receiving donations from companies in the private healthcare sector, would people be saying "I'm sure that's absolutely fine - doesn't look dodgy at all."

It might be absolutely fine, of course, but the optics are pretty shit.
