[Yeah, that could happen but at least we wouldn't part with Hando if at least the money was right. Then, yes, we would have to go out and get a new keeper. We would gain with the money.

I think you are probably right on that, however CKR's situation seems to point at us accepting whatever comes along!

My nightmare scenario is that we mess Hendo about enough that he leaves early, at the start of his international career while his price is still relatively low. Then we are left with Kuipers who will then get injured. Then we have two inexperienced keepers and very little money.

That is assuming he gets injured of course.....

I am very surprised that people think that we can keep them both happy in the long-term. There are some parallels with the Roberts-Kuipers battle but that situation at least made some sense as both had patchy injury records. But if Roberts had stayed fit, does anyone really think Kuipers would still be here?

Using the same argument, would Henderson be here if Roberts stayed fit?

I think that MM wants two experienced keepers....If I remember he did not go out to get a keeper el permenento when Roberts and Kuips were both injured, rather Blayney and Henderson on loan!

However he will be back in the side on Saturday.

Well, let's hope so because we start down a very slippery slope of punishing international players if he isn't. I know some would welcome more man management headaches for McGhee.

The problem is I am not sure he deserves to be back in the side. Confidence seems to be a big issue with him and that was starting to look battered during the Crewe game.

Barrel of Fun

Abort, retry, fail
I am a big fan of playing the best/in form keeper and I don't think Kuipers deserves to be dropped by the sound of things. Playing for your country surely must come with risks of not getting straight back into the team.

Nothing to do with punishing Henderson, LI, but perhaps it is time to try our other option.

The reason people get angry is once again McGhee ignores form and sticks with his mad theories and pet players (e.g Hammond).

If you want to be fair to McGhee, and I know pretty much you don't, then you could look at his acceptance that Hammond has been struggling with his form. But his alternative is 18 or 19 year olds - and to pretend they could have come in and instantly adapt to the senior stage at grounds like Ashton Gate is a shot in the dark.

It would make a nice change if you could actually recognise that Mr McGhee was actually doing *something* wrong, instead of blinding defending him at every juncture whilst failing to be critical of why we've gone from a mid-table championship side to a struggling league one side in a lot less than 2 seasons. And to be honest, there are plenty of reasons to choose from, a good many of which surely could be laid at the manager's feet.

Whoever plays should be backed by the fans. I am not sure what having a go against Henderson during the Crewe match was supposed to achieve.

Well, yes, but CKR was a lost cause, to say Hendo is in that category is false. But the surest way of creating another unsettled player is to tell he is not good enough for a midtable League 1 game just after he has come back from that incredible international football high in Germany. He will not remain Ireland's No2 if he not regularly playing games, Hendo knows it, Hendo's agent knows it.

His confidence will not be low after mixing with the elite of the game. Telling him he has lost his place for no reason would take his confidence down a notch, undoubtedly.

I've looked through that post and apart from a rote shot at me, I can't see a single interesting point made about the Albion. If there was, I would attempt to reply to it.

But then in theory Kuipers has the shirt, even the manager said he did well on Saturday, so should Kuipers be dropped?

International high? Correct me if I am wrong, but the Irish lost.

So lets be quite clear - your suggestion is to stick with McGhee and whatever he chooses - i.e. the rest of the season with Carpenter and Hammond toiling in midfield, no movement up front and a helluva struggle (and dwindling fans/money)?

Stick with McGhee yes, Carpenter yes, Hammond depending on his form and whether Reid is needed at fullback, the options up front are down to what the chairman can bring in - I don't see a "hellava struggle", I see a straightforward transitional season in midtable where we will probably win as many as we lose and where the younger players will get to be much better players for the experience. And I see us getting Falmer at the end of this season, which is more important than anything :drink:

Yes, Kuipers should be dropped. He is our No2 and the No1 has done nothing wrong, it's pretty simple.

Too velvet bag for my liking, stick with the No1

Not at all, a plea for consistency of selection. Hendo had done nothing to deserve being dropped.
