Kuipers going?

Kuipers in a great shot stopper - he is excellent. Ben Roberts is not quite up to that standard but he is more dominating in the box and his kicking is better.

They are both equally great keepers but neither have played well recently. What concerns me is the fact that Roberts is injury prone and we will be left with no cover when it happens again.

Kuiper is a great shot stopper, and has great communication with the back four. Perhaps he's after another championship medal.

The thing that bothers me is that we have two very good keepers who should be encouraging the best out of each other with the competition to be No. 1, but instead they are both looking nervous, unfit and are making mistakes.

Perhaps one first choice keeper is the way to go so they can settle down and concenrate on playing (this does not mean bringing back Packham).

While I blame the defence for all the goals, I was a little disappointed with Roberts' positioning for a couple of them.

To me, he was off his line too quickly for the first one, leaving himself in no-mans land and giving the guy the entire goal to shoot at. And two of the headers were from a long way out, can't help feeling he might have had at least one with better positioning.

Having said that, loyalty aside, Kuipers has been pretty dire lately, kicking all over the place and dropping crosses etc.

They are both right off form, and giving me terrifying flashbacks to Mark Walton.

As long as we get a decent fee Im happy, we dont need 2 keepers and Roberts is better than Kuipers.

Not to say Kuipers hasnt been a great servant and keeper to us though.

If we are going to strengthen other areas of the team, then the obvious area to save money for use on new players is in goal. We must have two keepers at the moment on decent wages. I'm sure that's why Packham was around so long.. basically, you have one decent keeper and then bring in someone else on loan if he's injured.

That said, it'd be a massive shame to see the FDM move on.

I'm sure Roberts, being ex-Prem, is on higher wages than the FDM is. This is in addition to being injury-prone, a mercenary, and generally not as good. If I had to choose one of them to go, it would be Roberts.

Too far from the sun
From what I saw on the TV Kuipers made more mistakes at Lincoln than Roberts did in the Boston and Bris City games combined. Although a lot of players were poor on Saturday I didn't think Roberts was one of them. As far as I recall the first goal he came out for a one-on-one and the ball was slotted past him very coolly. I don't think Kuipers would have done any better. The second was laid on by Danny Cullip. The third was completely free header from about 6 yards out. Also, in Roberts favour you could clearly hear him encouraging the other players in a positive way. Never heard that from Kuipers.

It's hard to say which is the better keeper but it's true that they are both a bit off colour. The best thing McGhee can do is nominate one as his number one (it looks like Roberts) and stick with him for a time so the keeper plays without the added pressure of the axe over his head. Might see less mistakes then.

I agree with the comments about were it not for Kuipers kicking we would not be having this debate.

I would have thought that kicking the ball from hand would be just about the easiest aspect of being a goalkeeper.

Michel is a top guy and someone you would want in your squad. I'd be gutted to see him leave. I believe he still has a big role to play for us this season.

If you don't want Kuipers we will have him. You can take Fettis and/or Musselwhite as they aren't a patch on him.

I am sure you will be delighted to aquire a quality keeper who has played in big part in two sucssive Championships, but we would all rather he stayed, even if it is as a number 2.

We have been here before. This is all rumour.

Someone has heard that FDM is really fed up at being dropped. From his performance at Lincoln I would agree with that.

I agree overall that FDM is the better keeper. There is nothing on Hull's site or our site to even suggest that this is going to happen.

I suspect it is just a case of interviewing the guy when he was really fed up.

I won't believe it until I see something official like the BBC site or SSN.

Can we really blame Mcghee for dropping Kuipers? In the games he has played he was at fault for the first against Peterborough (Bad kick) and was at fault for at least one of the Lincoln Goals (the 3rd) as well as forgetting to release the ball from his hand when he went out of the Penalty area. He has also not made one save of note.

If I had only ever seen him for those 2 games, I probably wouldn't play him again.

So how does McGhee keep Roberts in the side after his "look at mne I'm Andy Petterson" howler against Forest Green

Sorry, but that back four looks a LOT more comfortable with Kuipers behind them, than they do with Roberts. Roberts seems to make them very jittery. They don't seem to know what he's going to do, when he's going to come for a cross and when he's going to leave it to them. His kicking is a liability as it goes way in front of our players and just results in the opposition starting another attack.

Considering Kuipers was in excellent form (when not injured) in the 1st Division, it would seem somewhat insulting, surely, for him to become a 3rd Div goalie again. This is nothing against Hull, who look like having a good chance of going up, but FDM is far too good to drop down a level.

In the paper McGhee says he'd consider an offer for Kuipers if it allows him to improve the team in other areas... that's surely a sensible approach.

We're obviously all biased towards the FDM because he was so great as we won 2 championships (apart from his erratic kicking), but on the form since McGhee arrived and based on his pedigree, it's not hard to see how Roberts gets the nod at the moment.

Personally, I think it's a luxury to have two goalkeepers of such quality if losing one could free up money to improve weaker areas of the team.

As for FDM being Albion through and through - he's a professional footballer. He'll be Hull through and through if he goes there. Why is Roberts a mercenary when he took a big drop down the leagues to play first team football? Quite the opposite I'd have thought.

and then Coco the clown get yet another one his "Kitson-esque strains" and is out for a minimum of eight weeks, and having accepted an offer for FDM, we are buggered and have to waste loan signings filling a position that we did not have to make vacant in the first place.

Feckin stupid short termism if you ask me.

Now, where did I put Andy Petterson's phone number...........
