re the kolpak players in english cricket this has been disscussed recently by one and all at the county ground ,Uncle Buck, mendoxa, trigger, carrott crunher and all.there has been a lot of confusion over this have looked into it and have put it down below,.regarding sussex players also.

regarding sussex's position it could be very interesting indeed i think we should make good use of d smith for his return to sussex shortly and next season get him into the fourday format some way or the other.
Robbo said last year that he is the most naturally gifted of all of the Sussex squad.

The rules are to change for next year, If you have not played x Tests or x 1 dayers in the last 3 years you will not get a work permit. this applies to OS and Kolpaks.

Of this years players Goodwin , Smith and Damien Wright will not get Work permits for 2010 as they have not played any Internationals in the last 3 years Collymore can come back next year as he will still have played Tests in the last 3 years.

By my calculations of the current Kolpaks the only one in 2011 will be Nel and by 2012 nil.Any new Kolpaks from 2010 will have to be current Internationals.

Several Kolpaks including Muzza and Smith could challenge the rules as they have contracts for 2010 and signed these under the old rules.

I believe that Muzza is also working with solicitors or something to try and find a loophole in it. Because he hasn't played for Zimbabwe for that amount of time and there is an obvious reason for not playing there. I would imagine most players from Zimbabwe would try and appeal because you fear for your life let alone the cricket.

I cannot fing it anywhere, but talking to a couple of the young players parents over the weekend as part of the changes, counties can profit from playing young home produced players.

They said something about playing 5 or more players under 24/25 gets you hundred or so thousand pounds and if 2 or more of these players are under 22 you get about two hundred thousand.

I would love to see these plans, Sussex must be on the ball as we have loads of talented youngsters all ready for this, Brown, Gatting, Smith, Beer, Hamilton-Brown and Thornley would fit into this, not sure about the ages of Hoppo and Nash.

I forgot to add, I really hope the Murray Kolpack thing is resolved I want him to play for us into his 40's.

Has to be the best and most consistent player I have have ever seen play for my county. He makes it look so easy.
