Or, alternatively, he didn't want to lump Fab into the first group, but put something separate about the current manager. If he wanted to make a negative point about FH, I dount he would have described the experience as a 'pleasure'. He just would've written something more bland.

Pretty obvious he's talking about the current boss – no need for the surname, IMO.

I was joking.

I like to see us be ruthless with backroom staff. Bart hasn't shown the improvement that we would have liked and the club would have demanded. They need to be showing results to be kept on.

Best of luck to them of course

If you'd looked at the FBRef stats around the beginning of December, Bart was then at about +1.0 on post shot xGa, so to now be bottom with -5.0 shows how abject his second half of the season was. A strong reason for these changes I think

Interestking. What are the various columns? Also, is there an equivalent to expected goals, say expected saves? Maybe one of the columns is this? Then I can put this is some sort of context.

Post-shot xG (basically a shot's likelihood of being scored after it has been taken) and then subtracting the actual number of goals conceded.

With this metric, Bart conceded 5 more goals than 'expected' last season. That was the worst in the league, by some distance.

Thanks. I eventually figured it out last night. Agree, his expected saves is pretty poor.

From The Times:

Brighton & Hove Albion — Bart Verbruggen’s 60.9 per cent save percentage

There was plenty to like from Fabian Hürzeler’s debut season with Brighton & Hove Albion, but one area for improvement is in goal. Bart Verbruggen had a save-completion rate of 60.9 per cent.

In terms of shots inside the box, it was 60.1 per cent, which is quite low, although four teams have a lower rate (Leicester City, Manchester United, Ipswich Town and Wolverhampton Wanderers); but from outside the area, it was 66.7 per cent.

Collectively, Verbruggen and Jason Steele conceded five goals more than expected, given where those goals have entered the goalmouth. Only Wolves and Ipswich had a worse record, conceding six more than expected.

Goalkeepers with a positive difference have saved more than expected

I always wonder what a goalkeeping coach does to keep things fresh.

"So on Monday was practice catching the ball and making saves, Tuesday is a light session of ball saving and aerial gatherings, wednesday is goal denial and air to hand transitions, Thursday we start with a little bit of a saving and catching drill and Friday is pizza"
When you put it like that what does outfield training look like?

Monday: kick some balls
Tuesday: kick some balls
Wednesday: kick some balls
Thursday: kick some balls
Friday: throw some balls from behind your head and stare longingly at the pizza party

Can we nab Bournemouth’s goalkeeping coach, please?
The only reason Kepa's xG against stats are so good is that nobody expected him to save anything.
