Good move.

Apologies if this sounds harsh, but as much as some (at times) of the goals were down to Bart IMO, he has suffered by not having a coach at the level of Ben Roberts IMO.

Best of luck to Jack and Marco going forward….

I always wonder what a goalkeeping coach does to keep things fresh.

"So on Monday was practice catching the ball and making saves, Tuesday is a light session of ball saving and aerial gatherings, wednesday is goal denial and air to hand transitions, Thursday we start with a little bit of a saving and catching drill and Friday is pizza"
Lots of things, I only spent a week at a club (and admittedly it was a very long time ago), but even then we did different exercises….

Obviously warm-up similar…

Never nice to see people lose jobs, but Ryan, Sanchez and Verbruggen have all turned from good to bad (and to an extent Steele last season too), it's no surprise to see a shake up needed. We quite simply need to do better in goal next season.

Ryan left before Jack Stern joined the club so massively unfair to include him in that list. Sanchez was also coached by Ben Roberts and his decline coincided with Ben leaving.

Whilst the club may want to shake things up in the keeping department it’s a great shame to see Jack leave as he’s one of us who happened to pretty much land his dream job.

Has he? In what sense? I have no idea but he doesn’t strike me as that bad.

Near the bottom in save % from non-pens, then the worst at pens conceding 9 out of 9. The first stat appears to be widely regarded because it‘s from a large population size of shots, people can’t say he faced more difficult shots. Would be interested to know the opinion of @dazzer6666 on goalie stats.

Bart is way down on several of the key stats.

Yes, would hope he might have reverted to U21s, perhaps he was offered it, who knows…..

Would have been a come down for him though.

Interestking. What are the various columns? Also, is there an equivalent to expected goals, say expected saves? Maybe one of the columns is this? Then I can put this is some sort of context.

I have no idea but did he face as many one on ones as Bart? We were very open especially earlier in the season. Lack of pace in defence given the way we play now has been a big problem imo,
Well, given that at times this season Bart has been playing with a defence made of midfielders and walking wounded, it's also fair to reflect on the number of game turning stops he's made this season (at 0-1 vs Spurs and vs Salah and Liverpool). He's made mistakes, but he's also won us matches this season

The joy of being a keeper is nobody cares about the latter because of the former

I think Bart is recognised as one of the best young keepers in the world, and maybe Fab thinks we should be getting more out of him ?

As mentioned above, I hope Jack was offered an alternative position, but however you wrap it up, business is business. I always thought that Chris Hughton was the perfect example of that.

Bar Brian McKenna, it is curious that we have never ever had a top class keeper.
Over the past ten years alone we’ve had top class in pretty much every other position.
There remains a lot of room for improvement in the goalkeeper department, as was the case when these two fellas arrived. Good luck to them.
