I have been quietly mulling over things the last few weeks and after reading the argus article on Gifton Noel Williams (we can't afford to sign him) I am questioning Dick Kinghts leadership. I listened to the webcast a few weeks ago and felt that he was talking a load of PR shite. Seriously think he has managed fool alot of people with his positive spin on a terrible season so far. DK 'We tried to sign Francis Jeffers'. It is interesting how the important issues such as the sale of Leon and McCammon were avoided. Am I wrong to think this?

It's good to see a few more people are waking up to the facts now. I would certainly appreciate a bit more openess and honesty from sir Knight.

agreed-

its seems simply unrealistic that we could even flirt with the idea of signing Jeffers (which would be a disaster) but cannot afford a championship plodder like GNW- especially given the exodus of high earners over the last year.

Falmer, soon...
Dick Knight -

"It's been a piss poor year, both on the pitch and financially for the club.

We're not in a financial position to compete in the championship, nor it seems are we in a position with our squad to sustain a place in the championship"

Makes for depressing reading doesn't it.

I guess he has to remain upbeat and focus on the positives. You can't blame him for that.

What exactly is "PR shite"? He's being realistic about not wanting to f*** up the finances while Falmer drags and drags. Good. Maybe he has some dignity in not wanting to dwell on the unedifying spectacle that was the departure of one man nightmare that is Leon Knight. Again, good.

What a load of arse. I'd still rather have your chairman than ours. DK has done wonders for your club. Show respect.

I still back Dick Knight 100%, as there's no question that he has the clubs best interests at heart. His achievements in bringing the club back from the brink and giving it a future (once these LDC fuckers are out of the way) don't need repeating here.

BUT - like most fans, I've become increasingly concerned at the exodus of players from the club during the transfer window, and more importantly the complete lack of replacements coming in. All we've had is a neverending procession of excuses as to why its become somehow impossible to make so much as a loan signing. Todays story in the Argus just about puts the tin lid on it. Here is an experienced Championship striker who McGhee fancies, who could certainly "do a job", available for no transfer fee. Yes there is an outlay in wages, obviously. But have we not farmed out enough players to accomodate this guy onto the wage bill ?

If we really are in a position whereby we can only pay the equivalent of YTS wages to bring someone in, then DON'T go out and publically state that there IS money available for McGhee to use when, going by this, there quite blatantly isn't.

I think it's all a complete load of bollocks now. Even Warnock has publicly denied what Knight is spouting.

Watford O talking sense!!

He has been open and honest. You don't know that you can't afford someone until you discover their demands etc.

In an ideal world we would spend some big money on players, but DK is securing our future. We have incurred over £35m in lost revenue over the last 8 years or so.....

What criticism is valid against DK?

(No I am not wearing rose tinted glass a can be seen in my avatar ;) )

The problem is the fans will never get to hear 100% of the relavant facts about the running of the club. For 8 out of 10 decisions taken we will get to hear the full story, but for 2 out 10 we won't - not even on a fans phone-in, because the board will always keep key factors out of the public domain.

I don't think we've had the true facts about exactly what happened in the transfer window, decisions about fees, agents charges and wages. Even now we don't know exactly how the Turienzo deal came about, the role played by agents, the Chaigneau last-minute deal, the whole Molango affair and so on.

Because you have this missing 20% of facts there will always be gaps, inconsistencies and contradictions. It then boils down to trust. Do you trust Dick Knight and Mark McGhee or not?

As ever, it is the likes of Archer, Bellotti, De Vecchi and such who are to blame here.

Would we feel so shit if we were still at the Gioldstone while this dragged on?

Would we feel so shit if the foundations were being poured for Falmer?

Would we be so suspicious of everything that comes out of the club were it not for four years of bullshit from Bellotti?

Yes, performances this season have been appalling at times but the team have generally given tgheir best and over a 46 game season, the weakest sides usually finish in the bottom three.

Obviously it's frustrating to contemplate League One football, obviously it's a worry that we won't get out of this slump and obviously it's a worrk that we so clearly need a striker but seem unable to sign one.

However, we're all on the same team and if we suddenly hit a hot streak and by some miracle stay up then we'll all be hugging each other on the pitch after the Stoke game.

There seems to be a plethora of people in the county who clearly don't know what it means to Sussex to have a professional football team and not become some obscure curiosity like Cornwall. We can't let these bastards win.

STICK TOGETHER.

...another question this poses is, could this be the end of good relations between Knight and Mcghee. Mcghee has dropped Knight in it a bit with this interview and it sounds very much like a transfer of blame.

It might be that his contract is not only out of reach in weekly wages, but there could also be clauses and bonus stuff which just cant be justified, and if it goes against everything the club is willing to shell out when it comes to players contracts, then it wont happen, regardless of how many players have been farmed out.

Quite right. We might not even have a club if DK had broken his wage structure before. To think that we make losses regardless of which division we are in, and have to sell players to survive, some people want us to sign players on high wages.... madness!

I'd like to see all our striker on minimum wage with a bonus of £50k per goal.
