I found going back to goalkeeping and 'breaking' the scar tissue did more for my recovery in the later stages than anything in physio so your experience is probably not unusual.

They say many people never kneel after a knee replacement (mine is a partial Titanium joint) because it is uncomfortable but once I had broken down the scar tissue I have had no issues with kneeling.

I had a partial. It took a couple years to be able to kneel down. It’s a case of doing slowly and out of necessity, as I need to kneel down to get oars into a rowing boat, otherwise I wouldn’t. I have full movement in my knee so count myself lucky.
