I was suprised by the reaction to the film of my friends, whom I saw it with on Sunday. I wandered out of the Odeon with a smile on my face and said "I enjoyed that", and they were all going on about it being too long and sluggish in places. Perhaps they had different expectations to me, I was expecting a creature feature and got so much more than that; maybe they were expecting a highbrow drama, and got a lot less.

That scene with the T-Rex's is sheer GENIUS, uncle. Its not just the flabbergasting effects, its the ingenuity of the battle as well, and a pretty nasty finish (but I don't want to spoil it). My eyes were out on STALKS.

Better not watch the original film then folks!!

He has Spielberg to thank for the special effects which raised the bar to another level in Jurassic Park 1993

Had an inkling, it was a nod at the original wasn't it. Classic stuff.

My mum and dad irresponsibly took me to see the one that came out in the 70's. I think I was about 6 or 7 at the time, and got bored and fidgity as (like the new one) its quite a while before you actually see Kong. So I'm pestering my mum all through the film saying "wheres King Kong ? Wheres the big monkey ?", and mums trying to keep me quiet with "in a minute, in a minute". Then finally the big scene arrives with the girl tethered up as a sacrifice, and Kong comes out of the trees. I turned to my mum in horror and said "can we go home now ?".

She spent the rest of the film in the cinema foyer with me while my dad and sister watched it. :jester:

More next week from the tender early years of Easy 10.

I think you've come up with a good idea for a thread there. All time favourite movie scenes. You lead, I'll follow.

Saw King Kong yesterday with Mrs Mart and thought it was excellent. The fight and chase scenes with the dinasours were  , and Mrs Mart covered her eyes and made funny noises when the crew members were eaten by the strange worm like creatures in the jungle.

On the neagtive side I did need a pee at about the 2 hour 15 minute stage, but came back feeing revitalised for the final 45 minute finale.

pure American corn, one of the worst films I've ever seen, I thought it was never gonna end, just not my type of film.

Whilst we are on the subject, of films I thought Jarhead was diappointing as well, just a watered down mix of all other war films from the 80's and 90's without the battle scenes.

Gubbins. If that was "one of the worst films you've ever seen", then you've gone in there determined to dislike it because:
a) It cost millions, and
b) Its done well

There are a kazillion bad movies out there, but this ain't one of them. You're just being "controversial" so as not to conform. If you were disappointed in it, fair enough. If you found it tiresome, ok. But to label it "one of the worst you've ever seen" ?

Come on.

I thought it was brilliant, although the build up was a bit long and drawn out. It seemed like I'd been watching the film for 5 hours when they were STILL on Skull Island and I thought f*** me, he's still gotta get to New York and smash that place up yet!

T-Rex fight scenes are incredible
