Read 'The Aquariums of Pyongyang' or 'Escape From Camp 14' if you're in any doubt that North Korea is in fact a complete bag of shite,
I'm calling the propaganda card on this one - they're making him out to be a Dr Evil style super villain, which he may well be, but some of the stories are very imaginative and absurd because they can get away with it.
Communism for ya ..... anyone remember East Germany? .... conveniently not mentioned by the left ...ever!
If you think North Korea operates under a form of communism, read some books. It's something far different, bizarre and evil.
Yes, read some books about Russia under Stalin and Beria and China under Mao, I think that will give you a steer on Communism.....
Why would he starve dogs for 3 days when he could just use tigers or sharks.
I have and I'm not defending communism. Unlike most on here I visited a communist country in the 80s and saw with own eyes after having to register with the local police station etc..
I just think suggesting North Korea is bad because it's communist is a thoroughly simplistic argument. The people exist under a personality cult, most completely unaware of what the outside world is actually like.
Calling it communist or even fascist is irrelevant.
The family and their cronies control the country like the Mafia. I'd suggest they are quite aware of the madness but haven't got an exit strategy.
Or ill tempered sea bass
There are going to be several levels of control in NK.
Kim and his family at the top, it needs a major revolution to get to them.
The inner circle of government who could either get offed by Kim or by their "comrades" in order to gain favour.
The lower levels of The Party who could get purged by Kim/government or get it from the people if there ever was revolution.
The Military, who could get purged at the top level, but lower ranks might be supported by the people if they revolted against Kim.
One day it will all blow up and there will be trouble, don't expect a South African style Truth and Reconciliation committee.
Brilliant....see what you did there...great play on words...We should paws for a minutes silence.
East Germans (like Angela Merkel) knew all about state surveillance and the threat to personal liberty that the Stasi represented. That's why the current German people are so shocked to discover that the US government have been hacking into Mrs Merkel's phone.Even in places like East Germany they had a sense of what was happening over the border by picking up foreign TV signals.
I've just read a book on it. The East Germans knowing they couldn't stop it had a Harry Hiil TV Burp programme made taking the piss out of the counter revolutionary decadent West.
The journalist tracked down the presenter. He was still the same, framed pictures of Marx around the house etc.. longing for the old days.
His supposed crimes against the regime included having ‘improper relations with several women’ and having ‘wined and dined at back parlours of deluxe restaurants’.
In addition, Jang was said to have ‘squandered foreign currency at casinos while he was receiving medical treatment in a foreign country under the care of the party’.
Worst of all perhaps, in the twisted logic of this supposed workers’ paradise, was that Jang was guilty of ‘such factional acts as dreaming different dreams’.
