I think that would be a little harsh, although it did happen to us.

I think if stuff like this happens again in the future, the club involved SHOULD automatically get kicked out of the competition and SHOULD not be able to play in any European games for the next 5 or so years.

Good call. I'll just pop up to Old Trafford and lob a few things at the ref...

Juans point is a good one.
Its easy to sit here and have the customary moan at UEFA. And yes, they are shite most of the time. But it would have been very harsh on Roma to boot them out of the Champions League this season just because of one dickhead with a missile.

Awarding the match 3-0 to the Russians is a fair decision, and I gather Roma have now got to play their two remaining group games behind closed doors. That, in my opinion, is a sensible and sufficient punishment for Roma. They've lost the points and goal difference, they've lost out financially from gate receipts, and they'll face two matches in an empty stadium - you only have to look at Leyton Orient to know how hard it is to win games in those circumstances.

How would we react as Albion fans if, in the FA Cup, someone lobbed a coin from the South Stand at Withdean and it injured the ref. Would we feel it fair to have the match abandoned, awarded to the other team, and to be kicked out of the FA Cup for that season, because of the actions of ONE idiot ?

But how many times has just one idiot out of 50,000 got to throw a coin until something is done. Italian hooligans are kicking off all the time, it's unseen outside of Italy because it has become the norm.

I'm not saying it doesn't happen Chappers, but I'd need to see more specific instances of it at Italian stadiums before saying its kicking off all the time. Not that I've been looking out for it especially, but I've not heard or read about loads of missle incidents in Italy. Its kind of a stereotyped "happens all the time" statement to say that this is always going on in Italian football, but I'm not so sure thats really the case.

The Roma incident was a shocker, but I think its an exaggeration to call it the norm.

But does this send a message to supporters of other clubs, or just punish (briefly) the one club?

If they play behind closed doors, this also punishes the opposition supporters, does it not?

They were probably headed for a loss in that original game anyway!
They should have better been made an example of, imho .

Maybe it is an exaggeration but I don't think it's unfair to say that hooliganism is a bigger problem in Italy than most places yet it seems that it's not highlighted as much as when English fans cause problems (so what if we take it away, it's a problem wherever you do it?). Was there not a scooter dropped down onto Wales fans from the terrace above? That's fecking ridiculous but it hardly caused a murmur from FIFA.

I am just glad she does not know about NSC or I would be a dead man :lolol: Have just bought her nephew a Brighton shirt to wear whilst strolling around St Petersburg. Hopefully he will find a multi multi millionaire who wants to invest in the club
