The Football Association will not make any decision on the crowd trouble which marred the first leg of the Division One play-offs until they see reports from match officials.

Several hundred Crystal Palace fans spilled on to the pitch after watching their side beat Sunderland 3-2 and scuffles broke out when a number approached the visiting supporters.

Police and stewards had to intervene and it took around 15 minutes for all the fans to leave the playing area.

However, the FA are unwilling to act before they see reports from their representatives at Selhurst Park.

And, with the second leg kicking off on Monday night, the clubs will likely have to wait until after the tie is settled.

"We'll wait for the reports from the match officials before we make any decision," said FA spokesman Adrian Bevington.

bastards were bloody lucky to even get into the play-offs and now you can see em going all the way!!!

WHAT A BLEAK PROSPECT!

All it needed to calm the situation was an announcement that Sunderland supporters should remain behind for 15 minutes and that bottled beer was on sale to Palace supporters.

I totally agree - having watched the game on Sky - I was annoyed at how they seemed to come back each time. Popovich was manhandling Sunderland players but was he yellow carded - no of course not. I was so annoyed at the end I went on one of the Palace forums and told them how lucky they were to win, and how they are going to lose when they play Sunderland at home. It was "Ooo er she's only posted once, ignore her - or back away slowly and pretend she hasn't said that!". There were actually some people though who agreed with me.:D
