I think Khan needs to be careful not to over-celebrate what he's achieved.

Credit where credit is due, he looked far more mature than we've seen from him in previous fights, was picking his punches very well and was comfortably on top at the time of the stoppage. Freddie Roach is the best trainer in the world and Khan needs to stick with him.

How much was Barrera hampered by that cut? Who knows....it was high on the head, but the blood was flowing like a waterfall, and it's got to be hard to fight when you're struggling to see through one eye.

A good name on the record for Khan, no doubt at all, but against the likes of Juan Manuel Marquez or Edwin Valero (a man who won his first 18 fights by first round KO) he'd still be as out of his depth as a toddler in the Pacific Ocean at this stage.

You cant judge anything by that. Barrera had an eyefull of blood from about a minute into the fight until it was stopped.

Like Albion Dan said...we won't know if Barrera would have tested Khan or not. Would have been a brillant fight if they had'nt clashed heads so early on.
But Khan definately looks a better fighter since he's been trained by Freddie Roach. Maybe that Round One knockout by Brandis(think that was his name) has taken Khan down a peg or two....obviously still has the glass chin that was exposed by Brandis.
Exciting times ahead for Amir Khan I hope.

As Barrerra said the fight should have been stopped after the head clash as a no contest as it was obvious to anybody that Barrerra couldnt see out of that eye. Rather a hollow victory for Khan, although he did well in taking the fight to Barrerra, As Barrerra said his punches were weak and none of them hurt him it was just that he couldnt see where he was going.

Lets make no mistake Amir Khan is a huge talent with great handspeed but his glass jaw is always going to be a problem...

Not nice seeing a true great like Barrera losing to someone who wouldn't have stood a chance in Barrera's prime
