Me neither, maybe he marked him down for the foul for the first goal? El Abd did nothing wrong in the game either apart from in the 94th minute and also got 6.

Naylor's marks are identical to Castle's, except that Naylor, rightly, gives Stokes a higher mark.

Just dont like him - might be his picture in the sports argus.

Alas for El Abd he may not have done nothong much wrong for 94 minutes bu when he did it was a costly one.

Well, this brings up the old man management issue again - do you drop a player who has been playing well just for one mistake? I think it's a tough call either way.

Wouldnt drop him at all - would be harsh on him.

for me thatsalways been his problem - he hopefully will grow out of it.

El-Abd looks like he doesn't have much confidence at the moment.
A lot of his clearance headers went straight up in the air. when he got the ball he didn't look confident in passing it to another Brighton player.

How much of the mis timing of headers was down to communitcation?

And get over your Naylor phobia, he has an excellent reputation in the journo industry.

At golf?

I have never liked him, nothing to do with being pals with Mcghee before you suggest it!

Yeah you could be right about the headers.
But I still feel the las doesn't have much confidence when passing the ball to another Brighton player.
For me El-Abd and Mayo were the weak links in the defence yesterday.
But at least El-Abd has got a bit of pace and time on his side to develop and improve. Mayo doesn't

Just seem to be the whoLe defence had one eye on Mayo to see when they had to bail him out again.

Yes, really. He's well regarded among other non-Albion hacks.

I'm no great fan of KM but I thought his performance in the first half hour when we bossed the game was fine. His link up play with Jake and Stokes was good and he used the ball sensibly with little balls inside to Carpenter and Stokes instead of the usual hoof down the line. Both our goals came down our left hand side and, from memory, Mayo was involved in some part of the move for at least one of them.

In the second half, he unfortunately reverted to type and became a liability requiring Lynch to bail him out on more than one occasion, but credit where credit's due, he was good for the first 30 mins.

As for Naylor, whilst his photo may make him look like an oily bastard, I more often than not agree with his player ratings -(a 7 for Mayo yesterday excepted!)- and I like the style of his written match reports. As for the shit-stirring, Vinicombe used to do his fair share so it must be a requirement of that particular job.

Kerry's a decent footballer but if you play him you must have someone who can cover his big fat arse because we all know he' ll get done for pace. I'd be tempted to play El Abd there for the Forest game and play Lowe in the middle with Lynch.

Yeah but El-Abd can't cross a ball, at the moment he seems to lack confidence passing. He is better at centre back than full back.

Ah, I see - he's meant to stop a goal that came from his TOTALLY OPPOSITE WING.

Really disappointed by this scapegoating but frankly, this is NSC, what do you expect? :)

Ohhhhh noooo I agree with what London Irish is saying! Will I be allowed to post again after this confession?

If your going to have to blame somebody, then look at Henderson today. Dreadful distribution that gave away posession again and again. The Wall was not lined up properly for the goal and why did he committ himself for the equaliser?

Yes Mayo was poor, but he did OK at Rotherham and on Tuesday. I thought that 4 of the back 5 (including Henderson) had poor matches today, only Lynch looked any good!

I don't see many posts on this thread blaming Mayo for the draw against Brentford. Just people saying that they thought he had a poor game and perhaps he needs some decent competition in the left back position. Others prasing him. All diffrerent opinions but all relevant.
I have to disagree with you about Henderson's distribution, I thought he did ok on that score. He had no choice but to commit himself for the equaliser, from an early age goalkeepers are told to narrow the angle down when an player is closing down on their goal. I will say that I though he was poor in coming for crosses.
I thought out of the back five on Saturday Henderson was average as was El-Abd, Mayo was poor and Lynch and Reid did well.
