What Bates said was that Sheff W shouldn't be in the same league as Scunthorpe, Brighton, Chesterfield and Hartlepool - which made me think: Scunthorpe are in the Third anyway and, if Chesterfield get relegated and we get automatic, then we need Hartlepool to go up via the playoffs and he'll have his wish come true!!

These things have a habit of coming back to haunt people - I remember Fulham were relegated from the old First Div many years ago and decided that they weren't going to splash out on a set of flags for the clubs in the second - because 'we won't be here for long'. Sure enough, they weren't - they got relegated again.
