Unexpected move, given that Kirkland is their undisputed number one.

Just signed a new one year deal

I was told he's been great for Wednesday. Surprised you'd sign another keeper who'd have an expectation of plenty of game time.

Sheffield Wednesday have signed former Sunderland goalkeeper Keiren Westwood on a two-year deal. The 29-year-old was released by the Black Cats this summer after making only 24 appearances across three seasons and arrives at Hillsborough on a free transfer. Westwood, who has been capped 16 times by the Republic of Ireland, came through the youth ranks at Manchester City before moving on to Carlisle, where he enjoyed a successful four-year spell. He continued to impress following his move to Coventry and will be determined to become a regular once again for the Owls after playing second fiddle at the Stadium of Light.
