Keeping up with scores on the final day

I dont think it would make a lot of difference. When I was talking to the Digital Stadium guys they reckoned that it would take major investment by the phone companies to make it even close to working because the amount of users wanting to log on at any one time would swamp the system. Outside the ground there are a number of masts but even strolling back to the car park after the game its quite difficult to be able to check the scores. Coupled with the fact that the demand is only for a couple of hours 25 times a year, its probably not possible to get anything approaching a return on the expenditure.

Would it not also benefit the locals,. who will all object to a mast but will still use their mobile phones etc.

Although its not going to help much this season you might like to know that some of us are trialling a system with Sussex University for users of Android phones at the Amex. Basically they have come up with a system whereby android users have an app on their phone which cleverly combines the signal from all the users, (don't ask how, I'm not that technical), enabling them to access things like latest scores, live train times at Falmer, seagull shop, tickets, bus park & ride updates, etc, etc.

There doing a further trial this Saturday and I think there still looking for a few Android users in the West Stand only.

They sent out the following to me and others this week so, although it might be a bit late for the Blackpool match, you might be lucky for the final Wolves game + the playoffs of course.

hi guys
Hope all is well with you and you’re enjoying the end of this season – almost there for the play-offs!
This Saturday we’re having a bigger push with the Stadium App – we now have, Live League Table, Live Scores, current match info, previous results, fixture list, live rail, traffic info, ticker feed, and Twitter…we may get one or two more services in there too. So we’ll be pushing out an update before the game (we promise!).
If you have any problems at all I want to help you get it installed so drop me a line. We are going to be on-hand on Saturday from middayish – wearing our Digital Stadium T-shirts armed with a laptop to help with any issues. We’ll also be offering the App to any other Android users on Saturday to get the numbers up. Steve and I with be in the Lower and Ian and Ciaran will be in the Upper (you can see our ugly mugs on the project website Digital Stadium )
Enjoy the match Saturday and do come and say hello if you see us.
Kind regards - Jon and the Digital Stadium Team

Anyway looks like next season should be better.

Sorry its only Android, apparently it wont work with the old technology that Apple uses. (Sits back and awaits life long ban from Bozza). :)

Anyone in the West stand check out http://www.sussex.ac.uk/affiliates/digitalStadium/. Some guys from Sussex uni are developing an app which uses inter-phone connectivity and I believe they are opening up the trial to anyone in the West stand who is running an Android phone.

Papa if you follow the link to the digital stadium in my post there is a tab for those interested in participating. Might be pushing it for this week but certainly possible for the rest of the season I would think.

Alternatively look out for the guys wearing the t-shirts hovering around the West Stand on Saturday who might be able to sign you up on the spot, it is free.

I am sure that I heard or read somewhere that wifi was becoming available at The Amex.

Would be nice if the club started announcing other scores elsewhere during half time like pretty much every other ground in the country does.
Went to watch Bayern at the Allianz earlier in the season and they actually put up any relevant Bundesliga scores on the big screen as the goals go in. Any time there was an update from Dortmund's fixture it would be greeted with either a big cheer or a collective boo. Thought it was a bit odd at first, as well as quite distracting (not least for the players), but it actually seemed to work quite well.

Might cause a slight loss of concentration amongst some of the players. Can see PIG turning round to the North Stand and punching his fist in delight as Posh go 2 up at Palarse prompting Henry to launch a 55 yarder which rolls past his right foot

If that happens, may I do a comedy facepalm?

Still can't get any at all (Vodafone) - it only starts working again about 6pm after most people have left!

Vodafone seems to struggle when there is more than 100 people in a small area. It sometimes even won't work for me when I'm in the centre of town.

Only FM - which I suppose means you can get Radio Sussex if you can rely on them to keep scores updated. 5Live is only on medium wave.

Unless you download an app calked tunein radio you get all digital stations

There are a least 4 wi-fi channels in the stadium I think.
