Albion boss Mark McGhee has completed his second signing of the day, bringing in Southampton goalkeeper Alan Blayney on loan until the end of the season.

The 23-year-old stopper, who has made two appearances for the Saints this season, completed the necessary paperwork this afternoon and will link up with the Albion squad on Monday.

A former Northern Ireland Under-21 international, Blayney has impressed during his limited appearances for Premiership side Southampton - including scooping Sky Sports' Save of the Season Award for saving an Alan Shearer header last season - but finds himself behind Antti Niemi and Paul Smith in the St Mary's pecking order.

With Michel Kuipers out until the summer with a shoulder injury, and Ben Roberts still not recovered from a knee injury, Albion manager Mark McGhee has been determined to bring in another stopper alongside Rami Shaaban.

6ft 2in Blayney spent a month on loan at Rushden & Diamonds earlier this year.

Meanwhile, Albion midfielder Albert Jarrett has joined Conference side Stevenage Borough on loan for a month, and goes straight into the side to face Dagenham & Redbridge on Good Friday.

Blayney is the guy that won Skys Save of the Season for keeping Shearers shot out, I think.

Decent, young, keeper.

I wonder if he will replace Shaaban - or back him up ?

If Shaaban plays like he did against Reading, the guy surely must start.

Great signing!
