GMTV presenter Kate Garraway is to marry her partner Derek Draper.

She met the Labour spin doctor-turned-psychotherapist in October and they began dating shortly afterwards.

Her GMTV co-host Ben Shephard broke the news to viewers on Wednesday morning.

Garraway, 37, showed off a diamond engagement ring.

She said: "I obviously rang and told my parents.

"The relief was just audible - it was, 'Thank you Lord, she's not going to be on the shelf!'

"Seriously though, it's great news and we're very excited."

Draper, also 37, proposed in February during a romantic break to Cairo.
