It seems to have been raining in Blighty, off and on, through most of September, and now into October...

I went past the river Adur today, and it was nearly lapping over the top of the levees...

Is it just the usual autumn rainfall, or is it exceptional?

Any meteorologists onboard tonight?

Gracias

As well as all the rain, there are some very high spring tides at the moment,so the Adur being a tidal river, will be much higher than normal,it does this half a dozen or so times a year, mostly near the Autumnal and Vernal equinox. As for the rain,I agree with Mr.Leekbrookgull and blame the French.

Very American, I think we call them river banks over here!

You probably drove past at a high tide coinciding with the river turgid with last months' rainfall.

I think it's a regular occurance in spring and autumn
