Brighton have been handed a significant financial boost as they continue to plan towards a new stadium.
The South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) have announced they will invest £5.3million in the club's new home at Falmer, subject to planning approval from Government minister Hazel Blears later this month.
Chief executive Martin Perry told the club's official website: "This is fantastic news for Albion fans - it is a key part of the funding package for the stadium and we have been working with SEEDA on this for well over a year.
"They have now committed to paying for a major part of the new infrastructure which is needed to serve the stadium.
"SEEDA have recognised the massive regeneration benefits the development will bring. By making this investment, they are not just helping to provide a new home for the Albion but they are opening up the opportunity for the stadium to deliver the community benefits in education, skills training and jobs that we have always promised it will deliver
