Brez was awful, if they had had any ambition to win that game they could have easily.

Really was dreadful to watch

I thought he did ok - no change from last year. A big presence and a few good punches. The ball flashed across the face of the goal a few times which was a worry.

He has not become a poorer keeper. Just a reminder that we need Kuszczak.

I think with keepers, fans bring their own nerves sometimes.

I remember when Ankergren first joined us, he elphick and el abd were very iffy playing the ball around themselves, and cost us at least a goal or two early that season, so I was constantly nervous when they played the ball around the back for most of the first half of the season, even tough they themselves got comfortable and competent at it.

I suspect some people are like that with Brez. Because they remember his mistakes more than his good play, they are themselves more nervous than they would otherwise be.

Only my 3rd away excursion of the season and kept my unbeaten record (2 wins and a draw). First visit to the McAlpine (refuse to call it anything else) and impressed with the architecture and view, if not the home crowd who sang little and grumbled a lot.

Great to see us score from a neat short corner and a mistake by a Brighton reject. Brez did ok considering he's been out of contention for so long - until a typically calamitous error for their goal. Buckley was awesome but hats off to Painter who was very solid. A lot of people on here should show him more respect as he has rarely if ever let us down. His performance included a trademark tackle where he stood tall and timed it to perfection.

By chance we found an empty and free car park in an industrial area, were back at the car by 505 and home by 9, so top day all round. Would recommend the National Coal Mining museum about 6 miles east (near the M1). Brilliant underground tour and above ground exhibition, including original steam pumps and audiovisuals. Worth getting up early for the cafe's superb home-made meat and potato pie, chips, veg and gravy (£5.95) alone!:p

No, do.

The troller has just been banned and I'll tidy this thread up when I'm on front of a computer next - I'm currently restricted to my phone.

Oh - go on then.

Well half-time was fantastic. If Rainier - our favourite German - posts on NSC he should declare himself. Rainier was selected for the half time head on the broomstick, ten times around, get more and more giddy followed by an attempt to kick a ball 10 yards into the goal. Yes, I know, same old, same old - but Rainier was dressed in what passes for classic German costume - breeches, long socks, braces over his Albion away shirt. He could have had a hat with a feather - but I could be imagining that.

The Richie Reynolds chap started to take the mickey about the Albion fan looking a bit gay, then German, and was delighted to find out Rainier was in fact German, it was the morning after a stag night, and still had his fancy dress on. Richie Reynolds look-alike-e spoke some German so they had a conversation lapsing into German.

Meantime the Huddersfield fan had done his bit "Don't worry - you are not watching in slow motion - he is from Brighouse" - which was also very funny. The Huddersfield fan chipped it over the bar.

On Rainiers turn Richie Look-alike-e started counting in German, and got Rainier to run around about 15 times, shouting "Schnell, Schnell".

Rainier then staggered, stepped back, stepped forward and put it top corner.

Cue cheers from the Albion faithful.

It was hilarious.

Top man Rainier.

As for the game. It was a thoroughly professional performance. When we saw Brezovan and Painter we feared the worse, but Marcus was excellent. He took two blows to the head, including getting nutted when defending a corner. Just what is needed from a squad player. Same with Brezovan. If he was as good as Kuszczak he wouldn't be happy being a number two at a championship club. It was almost a very good performance - but he made a slip for their goal.

The defence was good. Dunk looked a classy player - he makes tackling look an art form at times. Just keep your eye on the ball. Bridcutt was tremendous. Again. A pleasure to watch.

It was disappointing not to see Dobbie - but I was pleased for Hoskins that he got 25 minutes. Their No.5 was one of those players who never missed an opportunity to barge, pull a shirt, leave his foot in - and that was just what you could see. It must have been a tough afternoon for CMS. He did well, without ever really convincing - especially with his hold-up play. Hoskins provided better hold-up, and better movement, and after missing one thorugh pass, clipped one perfectly for Buckley to almost get his hat-trick. I think this could be a pattern - CMS running them ragged for 60 minutes and Hoskins coming on to hopefully finish them off.

And Buckley. Fantastic to watch. Such composure at pace.

As Grayson said - in the second half their response was to "get in our faces" but we refused to be bullied out of our victory. They were a fairly unpleasant team - so it was a pleasure to demonstrate to them how the game is played.

I'd forgotten about that; it was indeed hilarious!
