Just got back from watching the legend that is Dean Friedman at The Hawth in Crawley and guess who I witnessed in the 150crowd?

Paul Samrah, thats who. How come Paul, if you still play the tunes at Withdean (actually does he, anymore??), I havent heard Lydia or Lucky Stars blaring out of the PA?

Or at the very least why havent I heard Half Man Half Biscuit's brilliant song: 'The Bastard Son Of Dean Friedman'?

Answers on a late 1970s edition of TOTPs please......

For the many people who will read this thread and say "Who the 1066 are any of these people?" then I won't apologise - get yourself a decent record collection.

Alas it wasnt a free bar, but Dean was out the front with a pen in his hand ready to sign autographs before anyone had left their seats! And he gave us all his mobile number!! Do you want it?

Well I heard a lovely rumour that Bette Middler had a tumour
So gleefully I went to tell my friends
But they said it was a lie and she wasn't going to die
And by the way have we got news for you
And they told me that the man I had always known as Dad
Hadn't met my mum when I was born
And they reckon that I am though I hope to God I'm not
The bastard son of Dean Friedman,
The bastard son of Dean Friedman.

Can't imagine Attila tolerating Dean Friedman records on the PA! Not sure Paul Samrah has mauch say in that area.

Oh, bloody hell. I have a look at NSC (thanks for the birthday message Bozza) and what do I find?

In a word. NO. In a few: No, not on your bloody nelly, even though Robina likes DF as well (there are at least 2 of his albums downstairs) and they keep plotting to go to the things together. I've never played TBSODF - but I have managed 'Bob Wilson - Anchorman' 'Joy Division Oven Gloves' and '(You're The Reason Why) Paradise Lost' over the years.

But Dean Friedman? I'd rather have MILTON Friedman. And that is saying something....
Meeting about the supporters' bar soon. We have always been promised it and I have no reason to doubt. Will post on the subject. Lots of difficult elderly parent-related stuff now, and lots of gigs, but I'm still in there, needless to say..

You were on Buzzcocks with Paul Samrah ??

Seriously you can't just say !i was on Buzzcocks" ,and leave it, pray tell more.

OK, you asked for it.

Some years ago I used to do some TV and film work in between other assignments. One of these was in the bit on Buzzcocks where an ageing rock star who most people have forgotten appears in a line up with a few upstanding members of the great British public. The panel have to guess who is the said rock star having spent 5 minutes making smart arsed comments about everyone.

And they didn't pick him out. Or even me, despite my 60's stardom in Ben Nevis and the Summitts.

Now, if you ask REALLY nicely, I'll tell you about the film I was in with Eric Cantona
