Bit impossible to get the death sentence in an EU country, seeing as its against the fundamental laws of the EU (and hence cannot be reintroduced in any EU country)...a

What strikes me is that noone else was questioned or brought to book for what happened.
Fritzl had done time for rape in the 60s and was then allowed to adopt children who had been left on his doorstep by his runaway daughter?! Stranger than fiction, surely? There's been zero criticism of the social services here - could you imagine what it would have been like in the UK? A complete and utter (justified) binfest.
I've never known a quicker trial here - I think Austria just wanted it over as fast as possible and the foreign media to look elsewhere for their scandal stories.

That sentence is absolutly pathetic when you consider how long he kept her locked up for.
He'l probably die in prison anyway so they should've given him an american type sentence, like 300 years with parole after 259.

The earlier rape he carried in the 60's he only got 18 months and did only a year of it, had they given him a proper sentence for that he would not have been around to carry out the latter atrocity.

i think under Austrian Law, you can only serve the largest sentance when mulitpule sentences are given. But he SHOULD stay in prison for the rest of his live. is he nearly 80, so he will and i imagine if Austrian prisons are anything like UK ones they he wont last long.
