When he steps up to a decent league where he is tested every week then maybe.Playing for Celtic it isn't going to happen.

Fraser Forster, for me.

Good call. I forgot about him. Has looked decent over the last season or 2 in the Champions League. But will Hodgson have the balls to drop Hart? The City fans on their forum have made their minds up and they see him playing every week. They want him benched after tonights performance.

No competition for the England or City spot, really needs a kick up the backside.

What happened to that Chris Kirkland chap? He played for England and had a rosy future ahead of him.

I just pray that the Hart we saw at the Maracana earlier this year turns up for the England matches

Is Joe Hart the Mervyn Day of his generation?

Day exploded on to the scene as a teenager with the Hammers in the 1970's, won the FA Cup, played in a European final, gained England Under 23's caps, and was talked about as the natural successor to Clemence and Shilton.

Then it all went wrong, loss of form and confidence, injuries, and then I seem to remember the Hammers smashing a transfer record and replaced him with Phil Parkes.

Amongst Hart's problems are that as young as he is, he's the best English keeper we have in domestic football by a country mile, yet every mistake he makes is scrutinised becuase unlike the old days every game is televised either live or extended highlights.

That old British trait of building someone up then taking great delight in knocking them down?

Hodgson backs Hart as his number one AGAIN.

Just how many cock ups is it going to take for someone else to get a chance?

But who?

Gone are the days of Shilton, Clemence, Corrigan, Parkes and Rimmer, five quality English keepers all playing at the same time.

Fraser Forster is probably our best shout at the moment IMO.

Case in point, not exactly with an in their prime Liverpool, Forest, Man City, Villa or West Ham?????

Im not saying dropping Hart is not the answer but with two huge games, and remembering Scott Carson and the wally with the brolly, Hodgson is damned if he does or doesnt.

He is a Hollywood save merchant. If anything some time on the sidelines might do him some good.

Agreed, I think he get's the feeling that he is untouchable in the England set-up and so of course complacency will creep in. A kick up the backside prior to the world cup will do him good I believe

Has this Foster chap played for England before?

Hodgson has made a ricket by not giving opportunities to the likes of Forster and Ruddy. He's had friendlies over the last one and a half years and chosen to play Hart 95% of the time. I genuinely believe Roy is a smart cookie, though that is a mistake. Especially taking into account Hart's dip in form. Well, hopefully we'll qualify for Brazil in two weeks time and this will all be forgotten about.

I'm pretty sure Forster has been as bad as Hart this season from what what i've read.

He was brilliant against Barca and in the CL last years but he's certainly made a few cock-ups already this season

I rmember when Steve Mclaren thought it would be a good idea to change his goalkeeper ahead of a crucial qualifier...
