So where is Joao off to.?...............It aint gonna be here.
The simple answer is because we didn’t get Europe. We are signing ever more talented and ambitious players for whom some form of European football is the minimum expectation. We as Brighton fans need to change our mindset from Europe being a nice to have for little old Albion to Europe being a necessity to keep our best players .

Until we’re a bigger clubWe’re never going to stop players wanting to move to bigger clubs.
Not even then. We’ll never match the wages they pay.Until we’re a bigger club

As you suggest, there's a limit on our big-ness.Not even then. We’ll never match the wages they pay.
Exactly. The good thing is a lot of our 'real' competition are badly run, at least cyclically - Man U, Spurs, maybe West Ham for example at the moment so as long as we have TB at the top we are less likely to fall into that group - those you mention might get their act together from time to time but they're also likely to **** it up periodically. We'll keep punching for the foreseeable I reckonAs you suggest, there's a limit on our big-ness.
Right now, there are the moneyed eight that we just can't compete with financially.
And then there are the likes of Everton, Leeds, West Ham and maybe even Sunderland and Birmingham that, if they get their acts together properly, we may struggle to compete with.
That's not to say we can't punch above our weight - we already have and we are well setup to give us the best chance of repeating that.

The other dullard on TS said when Brighton are spending £40m on an 18 yr old the promoted sides don’t have hope of competing. As you suggest, there's a limit on our big-ness.

Yup. If Wolves etc started paying 200k a week you’d see some pretty high calibre players turning up in the Black Country.Nahhh
Players don't care about Europe. In fact unless it's the champions league they would rather not have it as less games !!
It's all about the
To be fair if someone said to me I could get a 50% pay rise by just asking to leave my current company. I probably wouldn't hesitate !!
it wasn't entirely down to hurzeler?Well they didn’t earn it did they

We have years on any promoted sides as they can’t just drop £100’s of millions on players.
Do you mean like Rooney at Everton back in the day.......good enough old enough !Agree completely, all we can do is keep trying to slowly and patiently move up the food chain.
The Brighton of 24/25 is clearly a much more alluring destination than in our maiden PL season. If we can reach a point where we’re fighting for a European spot on a regular basis, we become a step higher again.
Success is a virtuous circle of increasing revenues, allowing a more competitive wage structure, allowing us to attract and hold better players.
My mind is slightly blown by the type of young player that we’re now going for. There’s only value in a teenager at £30m+ if their ceiling is sky high. I trust the club, but I can’t help but feel that any teenage player is going to need one to two seasons to fully acclimatise, especially when it’s their first time out of their home country, and away from home comforts. It doesn’t matter who you are or how much you’re getting paid, homesickness is real and hard to deal with.
Unless Tony moves aside and lets someone with megabucks take over. Many wouldn't like it but it may bring trophies as our salary cap hinders us bigtime. As you suggest, there's a limit on our big-ness.
