The PSR rules exist to stop clubs like Newcastle United being snapped up by countries and then dominating the game on the back of it. The rules are far from perfect but, as we have seen with Newcastle, they serve a purpose. It means that the 80 odd other clubs can still dream.

I always fail to see how people don't get this. If someone truly loves the game and sees their support for their team as something other than a big ego trip then the rules are good.

The question was asked on here how Albion fans would feel if a large petro nation bought the club and was indeed able to spend stupid sums of money bringing in the top names. Most were unhappy about such a prospect. That was good to see. I would sooner see Albion in the Championship, with an owner who knows the club he loves and loves the club he knows, than in European finals on the back of the investment of a regime who want to improve their image in the world.
