Telegraph just say …. Pedro is one of the strikers Newcastle are tracking.

After missing out on targets Cunha, Delap and Mbeumo.
It's weird, I really don't see him as a "striker" at all. He's a fantastic no. 10 when given licence to roam, but he works best when either behind Welbz or rotating with Rutter.

He's nothing like Isak other than that he takes and rarely misses a pen

First season, as a forward running directly from deep with pace, he added something new and effective when we were otherwise predictable and slow.

All those points are valid, but IMHO they don't add up to £70M - that's blue-and-white tinted goggles territory. Good player, with a decent market value, but not that much.

Not so much 'a little too tempting' as 'bite your hand off' level.
The current market says that Solanke and Richarlison are worth £65m each. Are you saying that Pedro is a) any worse than those two? And b) not a better signing at 23 than those two at 25+?

Even this summer Cunha is costing Utd £62.5m and is going for a lower minimum fee release clause. He’s 3 years older than JP and has

In that, it’s hard to say that £70m isn’t his minimum market value!

Ricarlison cost £50m plus add ons and he’s largely been a dead loss. Age 28, his fee if he returned to Everton ….. £30m?

What they're worth is what people will pay. List of clubs lining up to pay £65M plus for Pedro? Pretty short list!

It really isn't.

£5m hardly changes my point. And your point backs mine up anyway.

He’s shite, and he was always going to be shite at Spurs and he cost £60m. If his market value was £60m 3 years ago, arguing that Joao Pedro, who is younger than Richarlison was at that time, isn’t worth £70m in the current market is silly.

We’ll wait and see, but reports imply that he has plenty of suitors so if he is sold.

I reckon we’ll easily make that (and more).

He'd be brilliant for a newly promoted club.

Might not be what a regular top 6 club are after.

Should probably be at a club somewhere in the 8th to 12th bracket (at the moment at least, maybe he might have a step up in him).

Entirely understandbly players at those clubs in the middle are normally looking to take a step up, while the clubs are constantly looking for players who might give them that push into a higher bracket.

The Guardian article confirms exactly what I said £50m plus add ons.
No correction was required.

If I pay you £50 and then give you £10 a week later, I’ve paid you £60 no?

Not in football. If Richarlison doesn’t meet the hoops, the £10m isn’t paid to Everton. Typical requirements would be making the CL.

In accounting terms the add ons aren’t added to the books until contractually due to be paid and certain.

I think Palace could too - given the importance of set pieces to their seasonal performance and attacking strength especially considering they have Europe next season.

CP could be a good match for Joao.

Cunha is a player much more in demand. I cannot see a club paying more than £50m for Pedro, there is much better value elsewhere.

I suspect it will come down to waiting further into the musical chairs of the window. There's a lot of strikers on the move and there will be a club who miss out on their first choice targets and then go for João Pedro.

For what it's worth, comparing him to Solanke or Cunha or even Mbeumo - their goal output for Bournemouth Brentford and Wolves has been much better than JP's for us, particularly if you're looking at non-penalty goals. That's what these clubs pay big money for.

But I suspect we'll get something around £60m for him.

They also pay big money for potential. Mbuemo is 25, Cunha 26 and Solanke 27. Pedro is only 23. None of Mbuemo, Cunha or Solanke had scored as many PL goals as Pedro has at this age, penalties or otherwise. If they think he has a high ceiling, which I think he does, then it'll be much more than £60m if they're signing a player for the next 5-7 years.
