Later he was head coach for second division Brighton, leading them to the F.A. Cup final against the glamorous Manchester United in what ranks as the most exciting game ever played at Wembly Stadium before 90,000 fans.

A massive claim - but there were 100,000 there and I was one.

Fleur Benatar: She led the Pioneers to a 5-10-2 record in their inaugural season of 2002...

WTF is a 5-10-2 record? Is it something to be proud of? Is it a tactical line-up Mark McGhee might be considering?

Means won 5, drawn 10, lost 2.

Hold on, member of the 1966 World Cup Squad ?

Damn right, nowhere near. In fact, wasn't he in the second division with Southampton then?

I think he did win an England cap though.

We're talking about americans here remember.

Any middle aged englishman could go over there and say they played for England and they would believe it.

I bet Peter Ward gets sick of being asked about it.

"Hey Peeeture....ya'll rreaally perlay fer ingerleend?"

I can remember Jimmy appearing shoulder high in the North Stand, just after he'd been sacked and Chris Cattlin was appointed.

Yes he may have been in charge when we got relegated, but he'd only replaced Mike Bailey in December of that season, ( his first game in charge was against Norwich on 11/12/82 ), so Bailey must take his share of the blame.

And if your going to go down, what better way to go out than in a blaze of glory !

If we'd stayed up in 1983, we would've gone down the next year. Look at our team for heaven's sake - massive overachievers but I LOVE them for it.

That replay - why!
Why Oh Why Oh Why!!
Steve Gatting Competent Centre Back
Why!!!
Most Left Sided player in our history
Please tell me Why!!
Played him at RIGHT BACK!!!!
For GodS Sake!!!
Gary Stevens - Played RIGHT BACK for England
Ok - Good centre back as well - but he played him in the middle
Why!!
Why!!
All their goal came from our right side (from what I remember)
He should have played Gatting in the middle and Stevens at right back!!!
I'll never understand - Worst management decision in the history of this football club!!!!
