Just wondered how apt it would be if the Lewes Bonfire featured a giant Jimmy Savile to be burned. So apt if he was in a wooden motor home too...

I would certainly join the calls of "Burn Him! Burn Him!"

At what point do these go from 'alledged' to 'the truth'.

Or does the fact that he cant go to court mean that it can never officially be 'proven' as such?

I find it a bit bewidering that a mass-murderer like Radovan Karadjic can presumably not be put to death for his crimes, whilst JS would be unreburyable. Who would want to be in the proximity of his grave?

How many others though at the Beeb were "active participants" rather than the so-called "disgusted but afraid" who did nothing? Sounds like whether you were in the Wehrmacht or in the SS.

I think that the Police looked at the witness accounts and almost immediately announced that Saville was "clearly" a cunning predatory sex case would tend to suggest that the evidence is pretty compelling. If it weren't I guess his estate would have tried to injunct.

I have to ask how many of the folks on here who are questioning what he did, are under 30.

Back then, stuff like this did happen, and more often than not you turned a blind eye to it.

Sleeping your way to the top was commonplace. I know people who were routinely abused at school and in the army, but it was just something that happened, you accepted it, and more likely than not you then dished out similar abuse to the younger intake.

My gran ran a children's home in Birmingham, and the Bay City Rollers used to regularly come and take the children out. I met them myself. Then, one day the visits suddenly stopped, because they had done something 'bad'. But I never found out what, and it was all hushed up and not spoken about. That's just how it was back then. You didn't really question the people in authority.

Ah, now that's fair enough. I've missed that part!

Yeah, burn him.

I imagine Lewes will go for Lance Armstrong as it's still a 'villain' but not a serious criminal issue. (even John Terry might be a little too far what with RACISM n all)

The bonfire socities start making their effigies at the end of Aug beginning of Sept so the Jimi Saville revelations have probably come too late for the 5th.

when you die - cant libel the dead.

so now many others are guilty by association. (and invoking Godwins law so soon).

i really hope no one from the Police has actually said that formally, as it immediately prejudices any enquiry and also indicates anyone accused is not given fair investigation.
