There's a difference between 'not being good enough' and 'not playing well enough'. Lingard falls into the second category IMO.

This is another great example of what I'm talking about on the other thread in reply to phatbaz68's comments.

Linguard was good for us last season IMHO, but he never looked like a world beater. Van Gaal has obviously seen he has some attributes than can be used in a specific way to suit the team. There's probably Man U fans on thier forums saying "championship at best" or "he was sent back from loan at Brighton". Used in the right way in a better team he could do really well for them.
