Liverpool have signed Jermaine Pennant from Birmingham on a four-year deal. The clubs have yet to reveal a fee for the 23-year-old, but it is reported to be in the region of £6.7m

I really don't understand this when Liverpool have the likes of Gerrard, Alonso, Kewell, Garcia etc etc. to all play in midfield and no way is he worth nearly £7 million, he couldn't really hack it playing at a lower placed Premiership club so I don't think he'll last very long at Anfield.

Is this the most suprising transfer of the summer ?

Not at all. He's a very good player, they need a right winger.

He's bloody lucky - I doubt that the rest of us would be allowed to run around with a football after driving and crashing when pissed, banned, uninsured, and having given a false name to the police afterwards. Maybe he's the new Jan Molby.

Superb player, was easily Birminghams best player last year. If he has put his criminal mind way expect to see him in the England squad next year. Liverpool have got plenty of pace now with him and Bellemy

Liverpool appear to be spending the summer signing up troublesome little gobshites. First Bellamy now Pennant.

Not to mention Gonzalez on the left as well, he looks like lightening !!!

Pennant is brilliant, but Birmingham are not. He's probably the best player they had, and will shine at Liverpool.
I think he would have been justified to have been in the England squad, as that 17year-old will probably never be heard of again except in criticising (that useless nutscratching turd) eriksson.

he is well worth the price and Liverpool are desperate for a genuine right-winger.

expect them to be very strong this year- incredible midfield, solid defence and if Bellamy shows last seasons form they will be a very exciting team indeed.

Pennant has a shed load of serious potential not shown.

If Benitez cannot do this then no-one will.
