I feel you maybe on a sticky wicket comparing Corbyn to Cameron and their personal financial interests, but keep going.

Who's comparing. I thought Burnham and Cooper were going to refuse the rise, i thought that Corbyn was advised not to take it, i thought Corbyn was mean't to be different with his cycle geek persona, socialist man of the people.....probably end up like Two Jags Prescott, another Union man of the people socialist.

I can see it now in 6 months......What's red and rusty and chained to the house of commons.....Jeremy Corbyn's bike :)

Jeremy Corbyn's expenses for last year were £8.75. Tim Loughton meanwhile claimed £193,589.

Why does it not apply equally? Should a person in Germany or Italy live at a higher standard than someone from Brazil or Japan or Spain or Egypt? Why do you think this?
I would say the poverty is the fault of capitalism! Look at how global companies pay poor workers badly so they can make a bigger profit, look at the debt countries owe and can't afford to pay back and run a country.
I get a bit tired of hearing how the big corporates are ripping off the man in the street. As far as I know there isn't a Mr Starbucks or Mr McDonalds or Mr Amazon. I think these organisations are owned by the shareholders who in the main are the pension funds who are earning money for the retirement of the man in the street who pays into them. So in my book that means the people moaning about the big corporations are actually the people that own them and are benefitting from the profits they make.

Was that for a bike inner tube as it wouldnt have been for a tie or shirt even from a charity shop would have been an improvement.

Perhaps he could get one of those nice UKIP types to use some of their £800,000 of EU handouts to bring him something back from Brussells.

Try that argument in the US

Tories now criticising him for not going to the rugby!

Conservative MP Damian Collins added: "He should be there to support England and cheer on his country - it is a snub and people won't understand why he has turned it down."

That is truly pathetic. It's a worrying trend as far as I'm concerned. Let's pick apart the bloke for his dodgy views on NATO, Putin or whatever but when it's this constant barrage of trivial rubbish the Tories are in danger of turning this constant barrage to Corbyn's advantage. If I were Corbyn's PR I'd be having a field day with this nonsense.

Not always...

"A joint new study by three leading Venezuelan universities — Andres Bello Catholic University, Central University of Venezuela, and Simon Bolivar University — shows that 48.4 percent of Venezuelan households were below the poverty line in 2014, up from 45 percent of households in 1998, before late radical leftist President Hugo Chávez took office and benefited from nearly a decade of soaring world oil prices."

In fact, Chavez's hardline socialist policies have been a disaster for Venezuela. He did an awful lot of good work early on improving life for the very poorest but the fact that everyone above that line has suffered and suffered badly does no-one any favours, least of all the very poorest. The country is now a basket-case, it's South America's very own Zimbabwe.

Interesting. There will always be basket cases in any system though. Although that survey has an error of 3% so 45% and 48.4% are the same within errors, so I am not sure how you can conclude anyone is better or worse off.

It's not my analysis, it's from the 3 leading Venezuelan universities so you'll have to take it up with them! As for anyone being better or worse off, the projected inflation rate at the end of the year is expected to be anywhere between 150% and 200%. I'd say that's pretty conclusive.

why do you assume it should be? for that matter why assume that it is? you will find some in Brazil with higher standard of living to some in Germany and same apply across combinations. because of different cultures and political histories, the average across these country differ. yes inequity exists but why should individual effort and risk not be rewarded? why should a factory owner in Egypt with a lifetime spend all hours building up a business not see a greater reward than a worker content to clock off go home to his family each evening?

capitialism doesnt cause poverty, poverty is the default state for mankind, at least as we recognise it. without the company creating a factory we wouldnt have factory work with wages and disposable income, we have subsistance farming. yes, a company moves production abroad to increase profits by lowering wages, however in that country the wages offered are substantially better than anything else on offer and the workers raise their standard of living. so what you are against is globalisation, you want to keep all work here presumably and not share the wealth? or you want to pay a Spainard the same as a Brazilian or Japanese, regardless of how that effects thier living standard locally? i doubt it. the irony is that capitialism brought about the end of feudalism, as effort and endevour are rewarded and people can create their own wealth, but because not everyone is "equal" in capitialism its somehow bad, never mind the massive improvements to everyones living standards along the way.

im not sure i will ever be able to remove the notion of Jez knobbing Diane Abbot in a Cotswold field

I pray the poor bloke was at least instructed to knob her doggy and spared full facial contact

Amazing isn't it, these lefties who actually want to have sex with a WOMAN rather than a species somewhat lower down the mammalian chain :lolol:

:lolol: i'd be interested to know what concesssions you think Tsipras won, he capitulated and went back with his tail between his legs within days of his referndum when he realised the alternative - complete banking system shutdown and exiting the euro - was a very real possibility. all the analysis i read at the time was the final deal was near the same as that put to the referendum, with the addition of having to put up €50bn worth of national assets as security on the loans.

What concessions did he win? Do you have time while I count to 86 billion? :) Seriously, if you rely on the British press to get your facts about Tsipras you are going to be left a little embarrassed.

I'll refer you and Jakarta to the elections results last night - there is nothing more I have to say

so you believe the fact he got another bail out itself was a concession? i have read nothing in the financial press that suggests the Greeks got a better deal than that on offer before the referendum, its viewed as the same in different wording and many say its worse. Tsipras now has to deliver an austerity programme dictated by that loan agreement, he's won a mandate to do so, well done him.

You are clearly reading the wrong bits of the financial press then. Many were really pissed off that the rest of Europe persuaded the Germans to cave in on giving more money. Did all those anguished debates in the German parliament go over your head then? Seriously, do a bit more reading of stuff that isn't just right wing propaganda.
