Do you think the fa are right to step in after the game?
I never have liked this idea as it puts more pressure on the refs
It was a nasty tackle however the ref gave a yellow card and that should be the end of it

what you think?

I think it's fair. Whether he meant it or not it was straight red and he should be punished as such

Red card, 3 match ban, that was a career ending tackle and he should be punished on the merit of that alone !!

wherever the money is
It makes no sense to me. David Moyes said Everton do not get anything out of it and the punishemnt should stick to the yellow that was given. you can appeal against red cards and get them overturned which is fair but for the FA to turn yellows into reds but you are not allowed to appeal against 2 yellow cards that constitute a red. Think the FA have to make their mind up what they are going to do and stick with it. The only time they should jump in is if something was completely missed by the ref ie a punch and not something that has happened right in front of him

at home
listening to him afterwards, he was very contrite and apologetic and had gone in to see the bloke he assualted!

He said he was not a dirty player and it was totally out of character, citing his injuries he had received in his career as why he would not deliberately go out to maim someone.

I actually believe him and I think this is just another case of the FA sticking their nose in where they shouldn't

The ref reviewd it and put the incident in his match report. I think (not sure) they can only act if the ref does this.?

The new laws state that the FA can overturn a refs decision now if they see fit too.

Hove, f***ing ACTUALLY.
I'm inclined to agree with Dave, no consollation to Cahill, but I think Redknap did well to come on TV after the incident let alone go and personally apologise, which took a bit of guts.

Not many premiership playes would have done that.

These things happen in football, the FA always have to be seen to be doing something, when in this instance they should just keep their noses out of it.

I assume Damien Johnson will be charged after his equally bad tackle the previous week? The FA are setting a precedent here, and are obliged to pursue every bad tackle - I'd rather see them go after those that are actually maicious than one mistimed attempt.

Too far from the sun
It's not the FA, it's the ref who looked at the video afterwards and said he would have made a different decision if he had a better view of the incident. Once the ref has says this the FA have to act on it - it's in their rules.
