Anorak's corner: David Adekola, Nigerian international, played one game (Cambridge, I think) in 1996. He may well have been a Nigerian international, but this was evidently his first game of football. He was never seen again.

They appreciate his talent at Bury as well.

"When Adekola arrived in England in 1993, the Sunday People reported that he had been offered a choice between an £800 000 move to Marseilles, a huge contract to stay with French club Cannes or a free transfer to Bury. "There's more to life than money," said Adekola in explaining that he had chosen Bury to be near his English girlfriend. Bury manager Mike Walsh was ecstatic at signing a player with 16 Nigerian international caps and a record of 38 goals in 60 matches for Cannes after a previous spell with Charleoi in Belgium. Adekola's form failed to live up to expectations and a succession of moves to minor English clubs followed. Belated investigations now reveal that officials at Marseilles, Cannes and Charleroi have never even heard of the Nigerian and none of his 16 international caps can be traced."

Codner was a complete bell end, but would be a welcome addition to the current side
