I may be wrong but I thought both of them are presently in prison?

Venables and Thomson were released from prison for this crime.

Should they still be there?

I think we discussed this topic when they were released .... twelve years ago in 2001. Any other ancient news you want to discuss while we're at it?

Not if the law dictates otherwise.

However if you are asking my opinion then no they should have died in the gallows along with every other murdering scum. The cash saved on looking after them should be donated to The Albion's wage bill. Now that is football finance fair play.

VVenables 'locked up indefinitely'
(UKPA)–2 hours ago

Jon Venables, the killer of Liverpool toddler James Bulger, will stay in prison indefinitely because he cannot be trusted to keep a lid on his dark past, it has been reported.
Venables and his friend Robert Thompson were just 10 when they were jailed for life after they abducted, tortured and murdered two-year-old James Bulger in 1993.
Both were released in 2001 and given new identities for their own safety.
But Venables was jailed again last year on child pornography charges. The court heard he claimed online to be a woman who was willing to let her daughter be abused by paedophiles.
According to sources, officials have now ruled out giving him another false identity, because they reportedly believe he is not able to keep his dark past secret.
It means Venables will remain in prison for the foreseeable future, though he will be able to apply for parole periodically in an attempt to convince the authorities they can trust him on the outside.
Robin Makin, solicitor for James's father Ralph, said: "It does not surprise me.
"The reality is the authorities can't handle the situation. How could they?
"They are in an impossible situation."
A Ministry of Justice spokesman declined to comment.

There has been quite a lot of coverage in the news today because it's the 20th anniversary of his murder.

Oh right. There are too many unknown variables for me to have a valid opinion.

I think it's relevant due to it being the 20 years anniversary, when you read what they did to him I absolutely think they should still be there, they were old enough to comprehend how truly evil their actions were , I'd keep the bastards locked up indefinitely , maybe even for ever or until very old men , incapable of harming anyone else, I cannot begin to understand the pain Jamie's parents went and probably still are going through.

I shall never again mention Bill Archer, after all that was 17 years ago now.

if you believe part of prison is to redemption, and considering their ages, they should be released as the prison and probation services see fit. from what i gather, Venables was very dark andt twisted and went stright back. Thompson has gone on to function as a normal person and put it behind him.

if you dont believe in this, of course they should still be in prison forever, or dead.

Tbf we still talk about great Brighton wins as if they happened just yesterday. Nothing wrong with that after all.
