This thread is covering old ground.

The first loan up until end of January he could not be recalled. He is now into his second loan from today onwards from which he can be recalled.

He would have been recalled yesterday if they were going to recall him any time soon. We can't afford to worry about IF's WHAT's or MAYBE's until they happen.

I am more concerned he hasn't scored more goals but I think that was partly down to a dip in the service provided to him. I don't really believe for a minute though that he has been recently ill as reported by the press. I have a feeling Man Utd maybe just didn't want him overplayed in the heavy fixture schedule over the Xmas period in the heavier pitches in case an injury occurred. The lad is just not used to playing two games per week yet.

Maybe as the pitches get better and we get over our injuries I think we might see the best of James in the coming months.

You dont believe he has been ill yet he threw up on the pitch BEFORE the match even started in 1 game.

If he can't handle 2 games a week at the ripe old age of 20 without blowing it out of his arse, I fear he never will.

Well maybe I am wrong but a 3 or 4 week illness due to Nausea is not common except in pregnant women and especially not in a young fit teenager

I was more referring to the fact that coming from the U21s he wasn't used to playing so frequently- I am not suggesting he cant. Just that he is not used to it yet

I think he could be very important for us, but I can't see him getting recalled. If anything, I think that the focus on LVG is also focusing the pressure on the existing A-team there and that the mega stars will be expected to step up.

he was a great signing for us, and now he is hopefully over his illness I think we'll see a very good 3 months from him.

It's nothing to do with what's been 'reported' in the press. It's what we've seen with our own eyes. He has ben struggling with something for weeks. He vomited on camera before the Wolves game, he was visibly lacking in any energy at Rotherham, and he looked entirely knackered within 10 minutes of coming on against Huddersfield.

Exactly right. I watched him closely against Huddersfield, where he leant over trying to get his breath, in the second half, looking as white as a sheet.

Chronic nerves would cause it.

However, to be fair given his anaemic looking colour, looked more viral.

Not sure why it would be nerves. To me it looks that he has been ill - food bugs can take weeks to get over. He has been an excellent acquisition, top class, miles better than Lindgard and will knock in a few.

Wasn't match fit when he arrived, did ok to start with then got ill so has never got to full match fitness. Still visibly not 100% during Hudds game. Hope the break had allowed his recovery to continue. When he is fully fit he'll be key for us.

Can be recalled at any time.

I don't think that is quite right, the loan contract was apparently that if he was not recalled by 31st December then they cannot recall him.
Possibly wrong, but i'm sure someone else asked this on here a few weeks ago and this was given as the answer.

Note: Clubs have agreed to changes to these provisions for Season 2016/17 onwards. Copies are available from The Football League on request.

53 Standard, Emergency and Youth Loans

53.1 For the purposes of this Regulation:

53.1.1 'Parent Club' means:

(a) the Club (or club) which holds the Player's Full Contract registration (or, in the case of a club not operating in the Premier League or Football League, the equivalent registration); or

(b) for the purposes of Youth Loans only, the registration of a Scholar; and

53.1.2 'Loaning Club' means the Club (or club) to which the Player goes on Standard, International, Emergency or Youth Loan.

53.2 Standard Loans. Subject to the provisions of Regulation 52.2, Standard Loan transfers shall only be approved in accordance with following provisions:

53.2.1 Standard Loans shall be allowed to or from Clubs (or, as applicable, clubs) in membership of The Football League, The Premier League, The Football Conference, Northern Premier League, Isthmian League and Southern League providing the rules and regulations of the respective leagues so allow.

53.2.2 Subject to the proviso that the duration of a Standard Loan must be the time between two Transfer Windows, Standard Loans can be for half a Season or a full Season. Any recall clause requiring the early termination of a Standard Loan can only be included in a full Season Standard Loan and this can only be activated during the second (January) Transfer Window. Any other early termination of a Standard Loan must be by way of a mutual agreement in writing (including by way of a recall clause within the Standard Loan Agreement) between both Clubs and the Player but can only be completed after the expiry of 28 days and only during a Transfer Window (but subject to Regulation 53.2.3 below).

53.2.3 A Player whose Standard Loan expires (or terminates) on completion of his Loaning Club's League Matches will not be eligible to play for his Parent Club (where it is a Member Club) in any remaining League Matches in that Season notwithstanding the fact that he is a Registered Player of that Club and that such expiry or termination occurs during a Transfer Window.

53.2.4 Notwithstanding the provisions of Regulation 53.2.2, a Standard Loan of a goalkeeper (but not otherwise) may be subject to a recall clause exercisable at any time. Any recall may only be implemented in extenuating circumstances and with the consent of The League, such extenuating circumstances to be determined in The League's absolute discretion. A goalkeeper shall not be permitted to resume any Standard Loan following the exercise of a recall.

53.2.5 No more than 2 Players who are over 23 may join one Loaning Club from another Parent Club on a Standard Loan in any Season.

53.2.6 Standard Loans which subsequently become permanent transfers (which can occur any time during the period of the Standard Loan) shall not count against a Club's quota of such Standard Loans for that Season.

53.3 Emergency and Youth Loans. Subject to the provisions of Regulation 52.2, Emergency Loan and Youth Loan transfers shall only be approved in accordance with the following provisions:

53.3.1 Notwithstanding the definition of Parent Club, Emergency and Youth Loans may only be concluded with clubs affiliated (directly or through County Football Associations) to the Football Association unless any club not so affiliated plays in any of the competitions set out in Regulation 53.2.1.

Any Emergency Loan concluded in accordance with this Regulation may be renewed during a Closed Period provided the renewal is simultaneous with the expiry of the immediately preceding period of the Emergency Loan.

53.3.4 Notwithstanding the provisions of Regulations 53.3.2 and 53.3.3, a Player cannot be registered on an Emergency Loan or Youth Loan:

(a) during the period commencing immediately after the end of a Transfer Window and during each of the seven days following the end of that Transfer Window;

(a) Scholars who are in the second or third (if that option is exercised) year of their Scholarship Agreement; or

(b) Contract Players aged 20 or under on 1st July immediately preceding the Season in question,

may be registered on a Youth Loan.

53.3.6 It shall be a condition of any Youth Loan involving a Scholar, or a Contract Player who continues to qualify as an Academy Player, that for the duration of the period of the Youth Loan the Player continues to fully comply with the programme of education in place for that Player.

53.3.7 A Player registered on a Youth Loan may, provided this is agreed between the two clubs and the Player, continue to train with and/or play for his Parent Club (or club) in any match other than matches played as part of the Premier League Competition, League Competition, League Cup, Football Association Challenge Cup or Football League Trophy (First Team Matches). Participation by the Player in First Team Matches for the Loaning Club shall take precedence.

53.3.8 Any days on which the Player participates in a reserve team match and/or attends any training sessions for the Loaning Club (or club)) shall still count towards the period of the Youth Loan.

53.3.9 Except for the specific circumstances provided for in Regulations 53.3.11, 53.3.12 and 54, the minimum duration of any Emergency Loan and Youth Loan shall be 28 days and the maximum duration of an Emergency Loan is 93 days. The loan period is inclusive of the starting date and the finishing date. Youth Loans may not extend beyond the date of the Player's 21st birthday.

53.3.10 Emergency Loans and Youth Loans may contain a break clause but only where that break clause is exercisable after the expiry of the initial 28 day period of the loan.

53.3.11 Emergency Loans and Youth Loans involving goalkeepers (but not otherwise) may be subject to a recall clause within the first 28 days. Any recall may only be implemented in extenuating circumstances and with the consent of The League, such extenuating circumstances to be determined in The League's absolute discretion.

53.3.12 The League shall have discretion to extend the maximum duration of 93 days for an Emergency Loan in extenuating circumstances, such circumstances to be determined in The League's absolute discretion.

53.3.13 Subject to Regulation 53.3.14, where the Emergency Loan or Youth Loan of a Player expires (and is not renewed simultaneously) any subsequent Emergency Loan or Youth Loan of that Player to the same Club will be subject to a minimum duration of 28 days as set out in Regulation 53.3.9.

53.3.14 The cumulative total number of days of all Emergency Loans of one Player to the same Club may not exceed 93 days (unless extended by The League in accordance with the provisions of Regulation 53.3.12).

53.4 International Loan. Clubs may also sign players from foreign clubs (which, for the purposes of this Regulation means any club not affiliated to the Football Association unless such club plays in any of the competitions set out in Regulation 53.2.1) in accordance with the principles set out in Article 10 of the FIFA Regulations (International Loan) subject to the following provisos:

53.4.1 the onus is on the Loaning Club to identify whether the signing of the player from a foreign club is a permanent transfer or International Loan. Players may not be signed from a foreign club on any other basis;

53.4.2 Players signed on an International Loan must sign an employment contract with the Loaning Club in a form equivalent to the Standard Contract;

53.4.3 the defined term of Standard Loan in Regulations 53.2.5 and 53.2.6 shall be deemed to include International Loans such that International Loans shall count towards the quotas set out therein; and

53.4.4 the onus is on the Loaning Club to comply with the requirements of the FIFA Regulations.

Didn't United loan out another striker yesterday?

Edit: I believe so, Ashley Fletcher to Barnsley and an attacking midfielder, Nick Powell, to Hull.
