Good on him. He was always talented enough, but his talent put him in the team too early for his physical size and his mentality.

It was too much too soon for him down here and I hope some of the MORONS who were writing to the Argus and calling the phone in DEMANDING that McGhee play him in the first team have learned their lesson.

He's a bit older now (but still young) and probably a bit bigger, being a bigger fish in a smaller pond has probably done him the world of good.

Seems that quite a few of our explayers are making a good account of themselves, Cox is doing quite well at Orient for a start and Revell is getting amongst the goals as well. However, how many of them would get into this squad ?

Totally agree. Sadly for Jake he couldn't have played for us at a worse time, having the responsibility of leading the line in a struggling team. I am delighted that he now seems to have found his feet and his career is now properly up and running.

Craig Davies is even scoring for Chesterfield.

For me his main problem was bottling Tackles, If it meant him getting hit he would pull out even if there was a chance of a goal.

and you can't really blame a small 19-yr old for that. Spot on post by Billy the Fish above, his talent was obvious at a young age and we were clamouring to get him the first team, and then had little patience when he got there.

In some ways the same goes for Craig Davies, an obvious talent messed around by the constant change in manager, a pissed-off group of supporters (understandable considering how much we were under-performing as a team) and a suggested drinking mentality in the squad at the time that was all too easy for a young guy away from home to fall into.

Players need time to settle and develop, which they used to get in the past when following the Albion was a game once a week and snippets in the Argus. Now its wall-to-wall internet intensity and the pressure builds that much more rapidly.

One interesting snippet to add here, is that Steve Cook, who we have sent out on loan to Eastbourne has been getting rave reviews playing at Centre back. Given he is currently about 7th choice for us in that position, it looks like we have good backup for our backup in some positions now.
