Jack 'the Cruise' Reacher

Following on from the thread re the casting of Tom ' the midget' Cruise in the role of Jack 'the giant' Reacher, which actors would you cast for the following characters from the world of crime novels.

Jack Reacher (Lee Child) Difficult but I would go for James Caviezel (see High Crimes with Ashley Judd)
Harry Bocsh (Michael Connelly) A younger Gene Hackman
Kay Scarpetta (Patricia Cornwell) Not sure, could be Meryl
Rebus (Ian Rankin) Any Scott will do.
Roy Grace (Peter James) Not read enough to get a good picture of him.
Alex Cross (James Patterson) Lawrence Fishburne
Sara Linton (Karin Slaughter) Ashley Judd

Having read all of the Rebus novels, I think that John Hannah chappie was completely miscast in the TV series. They got it spot on with Ken Stott but he kind of played the same kind of role in the excellent 'Messiah' series. Can't comment on any of the others as I haven't read them.

I've always had David Janssen in mind for Harry Bosch;

Of the modern day actors I've seen Russell Crowe suggested a few times which is probably not a bad shout. I like drew's Cross and Linton suggestions.

I believe that the first Roy Grace novel is in production now but haven't heard who will play the main role.

This sort of casting is like using one of the seven dwarfs ( Dopey? ) to play the giant in Jack and the Beanstalk.
