our HR dept is coming down on MOnday to discuss the office closing so my boss (hats off to him for doing it) has said keep quiet until then, see if I can talk them into making me redundant on the spot . . . .then I can walk, with a few grand, have a weeks holiday and start the new job a bit early.

I think I might award myself a few beers later for being such a smart arsed barsteward

I did very well out of redundancy too. 28K and my pension kicked in as well.
It enabled me to return south.
