I was living in Lambeth at the time and went to an anti-poll tax concert at the Brixton Academy the night before - not through any political stance mind you...
There were loads of police outside the venue after the concert and luckily the next day I headed back to good old Sussex by the sea having watched the start of the march go past my student residence.
Looking at that clip it looks absolutely petrifying.
The lowlight of Brixton Academy gig was getting hit on the head by an apple thrown by one of the dancers from the Rebel MC or some other similar *act*. Norman Cook was there as part of Dub International who I think were top of the charts at the time.

Twenty years ago - Jesus Christ....
