I don't think either side can take the moral high ground on the basis that one side is killing more innocent civilians than the other.

How about because a huge military power has occupied their country. That usually tends to give one side the high moral ground.

I think the point he is trying to make is that by going to war with Iraq in order to guarantee the USA's oil supplies is going to provoke a reaction from Iraqi supporters...........and it has.

There has been killing of the innocent by USA and the 51st state of Iraqis and there has been killing of the innocent by Al Qu'aeda in the US and Europe.

Yes however the point of the thread is the impact of the conflict on innocent people? Hizbollah were voted into power by their people even though they know they are violent, same for the Israelis - they voted to protect their ill gotten land by any means, so why are they suprised it has come to this....

these are people attacking their own virtually...I still fail to see where the comparison to 7/11 lays....we voted in Blair (I didn't as I can't vote) but he isn't someone who is a known terrorist/violent/fanatical background as far as I'm aware? So why could we expect to be attacked?

The invasion of Iraq had begun before the last election. The people of Britain voted in Blair, so surely they are exactly the same as those who voted for Hamas etc.

In Northern Ireland the majority of voters put their 'X' in the Sinn Fein and DUP boxes, political parties with paramilitary links, it is not the same as saying they want to kill their neighbours though.

One thing should be noted, most people do want to get on with their lives in peace, it is politicians and religious fanatics who are the warmongers, the rest of us just want to get through the day, have enough food to feed our families, see our loved ones and watch lesbian porn.

In the case of Israel and hezbollah, there seems to be a feeling that a ceasefire could be worked out if all of the 'uninvolved' nations pulled together and the UN stepped in with the backing of the US.
