WE had a decent run in one of the cup competitions? When did we last get past round 4 of either?

However i quite fancy us to have Boro as they are not doing to well in the premiership so may catch them on an off day.

Well said. The bizarre thing is that for most Premiership prima donna fans, and certainly anyone you meet abroad who's heard of Brighton, we've got this reputation as some sort of Cup team because of something that happened 20 years ago. Whereas in fact our Cup record is f***ing abysmal.

Lots of people I've spoken too reckon we could beat 'borough, namely because they will field a weakened side as they want Prem survival first so will rest their "panick buy" Mendietta :D and other players. Although the way we've played lately I still cant see us beating them :nono:

I reckon we'll fail miserably against boro, we aren't playing well at the moment. Personally I would rather we did all our good games in the league and get promoted and get no where in the cups.

Very true when i was in Barcelona got chatting to some liverpool fans who went on about our cup record. Ok we beat them twice 20 years ago or so, but thats been about it.

Dunno about that, Crabtree.
Boro have got more than enough to survive in the Prem this season. There are plenty of teams with a BIG fight on their hands to stay up (Wolves, Fulham, Bolton, Leicester...even Pompey when they get a few injuries could start finding it very tough soon).

Boro probably see the League Cup as their best chance of success this season, and it still gets you into the UEFA. I reckon they'll field a strong side to make sure.

We have been pretty dire in the cups since I've been watching us.

Possibly the best occasion of more recent years being the defeat of Leicester, which was great, but then who knocks us out in the next round? Bloody Sw*ndon.
