Is this the most apathetic start to a season for ages?

lets all be friends! we WILL stay up, im confident of that and a first win tonight! Withdean is a bore and i think all this uncertainty and time falmer is taking must get a lot of people down, but we're in the Championship, lets cheers up!

I personally prefer the away games too by the way!

Thanks Trigger and Bozza - it's good to know I am not alone. I have been a season ticket holder since the mid 90s and have decided this season not to renew. Like Trigger, this has nothing to do with the club or the board - it's just the Withdean. I'm fed up with the lack of atmosphere, the lack of capacity, the getting wet etc. If the tickets were cheaper then I might consider buying one. But they're not, some Premiership season tickets are cheaper.

I will probably go to a number of home games, but I will only buy a season ticket when we get a stadium and become a proper football club.

I can't believe some of you guys, I don't post very often, can't always get to a computer, I have not been so excited about a season in I don't know how long. We have not stopped partying and celebrating since Cardiff. I was awake at 6am on Saturday, full of excitement and anticipation at the start of the new season. Superphil and myself have planned all the games we can go to, organised family visits and trips to friends who live around the Country to co-incide with the likes of Leicester and Coventry. At least being back in this division we get to visit some great grounds. I don't care where we end up position wise, although I am very optimistic about this season, I just love being a Brighton fan and always will be. So apathetic people get off your butts and get excited - or else.

Well said that lady.

I had firmly resolved not to renew my ticket this season as a combination of the Withdean experience and the crawl around the M25 had worn me down and had often felt like a chore last season. Away games, even when we lost, were more enjoyable. However, on a business trip to Brighton in June I walked past the Seagulls shop and when I found that my seat in H Block, about which I still felt a bit possessive, was still available couldn't help myself filling in a form and renewing. Now I am glad I did as the prospect of seeing an Albion side with some interesting additions take on some of the biggest clubs in the game, who will hate visiting Withdean, is pretty damn exciting. Some great away trips as well.

I wouldn't want to criticise anybody for not renewing as I came that close to not doing so myself but apathy is the last thing I am feeling right now and hope the feeling lasts.

Definitely excited about this season... even more optimistic after the Reading game than I was before it... the new signings really worth a look, both home and away... suggest those feeling apathetic get down to the Withdean and bolster the club's argument for Falmer... a less-than-capacity crowd can only help the Nimby's IMHO... also, the club benefits financially from every seat sold...

Incidentally, I had one season ticket last season... I now have 2 season tickets - one for me, and one shared by my 2 sons... the indoctrination programme continues... so I'm actually trending upwards, not downwards on the season ticket front!...

I believe that the desire to support your team should not be outweighed by the shortcomings of Withdean...

Come to the home games, sing, and make it better... don't stay away...

Goes without saying that most NSC posters are top Albion fans, whether it's taking out a pricey loan for season ticket or going to Hartlepool on a Tuesday night or doing a three hundred mile round trip for a home game. Quality supporters one and all. So quit fighting amongst yerselves whydoncha!

On the other hand, 30,000 go to Cardiff and there doesn't seem to be enough of that massive floating fanbase who follow up on their support of the Albion that day into buying a ticket for tonight. Being charitable, I reckon most people unless they frequent the message boards don't even know there's a game on at Withdean tonight. Which has to come down to the club's marketing people.

If you want apathy, you only have to go back 12 months. We'd been there, seen it, done it, and it was really difficujlt to get up for it. Not so this season, it will be tough but exhilirating.

Renewing season tickets is a different kettle of fish. Withdean's shit, we all know it, and not worth the money. Fair play to all those who do carry on shelling out, but you can understand those who don't. It isn't value, but then there are the odd moments you can't put a price on. What you gonna do?

I have no problem with Withdean. I accept it is less than ideal for Pro Football, but has everyone forgotten how miserable it was sharing someone elses's ground? I for one, still feel that we are lucky to be playing in Brighton when you consider what the previous regime did to us.

It's a bugger when it rains, and could do with more seats, but I have some very happy Withdean memories (2 Championships anyone?) and am hoping for many more this season.

We are stuck with it until Falmer is built, so we may as well grin and bear it.

I renew for the sole reason that it guarantees me a ticket for every home game. Yes, I guess I probably could make most games buying tickets individually, but I don't want to run the risk of not being able to go.

Win/lose/draw/Goldstone/Gillingham/Withdean/Falmer....I really don't care - I just can't imagine not being there when Brighton play at home.

Just wanted to state again that I did not question the commitment of yourselves - if you read my posts you will see that I am just trying to be positve and was applauding a guy who has gone to extremes just so he can watch the team.

Apologies for the narky response, its just that damn Withdean gets me down

The football has come round so quickly again I can hardly believe a new season is upon us.

This season could be one of the most exciting we've had for a long while because for the first time since Adams and the start of the Div3 season WE HAVE A LOT OF NEW PLAYERS. The most boring thing about the past four years has been discussing the merits of Mayo, Watson, Oatway, Hart and Jones over and over and over again, worrying if somebody is going to buy Zamora over and over and over again, praising Cullip, Carpenter and Kuipers over and over and over again.

Its going to be nice just seeing some new players, working them out and so on. And of course, praising Cullip, Carpenter and Kuipers again because they kick ass.

Exactly! Much as I dislike Withdean, the over-riding fact is I want to watch the Albion play. It was boring enough on Saturdays in the close season - I wouldn't want to miss out when there are matches to go to (I don't like cricket or tennis and I couldn't afford a holiday, so it didn't leave much else to entertain me !). I've been going for more years than I can remember - done Carlisle midweek, Gillingham etc and I have no intention of giving up now, as it's not the surroundings that matter so much as being there. I know it's poor value compared with some Premiership grounds but I'm not interested in watching any of the Premiership teams, so that's irrelevant for me. It's inconvenient having to use the Park and Ride and getting soaked and I don't like not having the option to stand. However, I put up with all the negatives as the positive of being able to support my team in person outweighs them. NB I accept that money and distance prevent some from attending, I just find it hard to understand how previously committed supporters find it in them not to go now!

I hate Withdean but I wanna watch the Albion.

The fact that some people are so fed up with Withdean that they won't watch the Albion there anymore just highlights what a mess we're in.

We need Falmer now. I'm praying for the best christmas present ever.
