Is this our first Monday evening home game since we beat Reading in 2002?

I think the game was rescheduled from a Friday just prior to Christmas due to a frosted pitch and I had tickets. Missed the rescheduled game due to the birth of first child but listened to part of the commentary on the radio in the car on the way to the hospital to visit. Believe Bobby Z got two goals and created the other, a friend who was there assured me that Zamora was "on fire" for that game,

I thought it was Bobby scoring one, squaring one for Junior Lewis and an pulling off an outrageous chip over their defence that Steve Melton duly volleyed first time over the head of their keeper and into the top corner.

Didn't we play Reading at home a couple of years later? We lost 1-0, Forster scored a controversial goal for them I seem to remember.

Barrel of Fun

Abort, retry, fail
I was the last to find out that the game had been postponed. My father and I wandered down and we were greeted by an exceedingly dark Withdean with no apparent life.

According to my programmes, we played Bristol City on a Monday evening later on that season and won 2-1.

Reverting to Soccerbase...

26/8/2002 - Brighton 0 vs 2 Walsall
21/4/2003 - Brighton 1 vs 1 Sheff Wed
18/8/2003 - Brighton 2 vs 1 QPR
25/8/2003 - Brighton 2 vs 0 Luton
12/4/2004 - Brighton 0 vs 0 Rushden
3/1/2005 - Brighton 2 vs 1 Watford
21/3/2005 - Brighton 0 vs 1 Reading
29/8/2005 - Brighton 2 vs 0 Plymouth
26/12/2005 - Brighton 1 vs 0 QPR
17/4/2006 - Brighton 0 vs 2 Sheff Wed

So, the first for 5.5 years.

All those except QPR 2003 and Reading were bank holidays so that answers my question.

Wow. Who'da thunk a team that hasn't been in the premier league, thus not often had monday night games, would have such a long time between monday games. Monday night games. Sorry, monday night, home games.

This could be the first game I've worn a plain blue t-shirt to at home, in october, for a televised game, with the wind blowing south east, when we start the game in a league position that is equal to the number of games we played and is seven less than the number of points we have. A very noteworthy occurrence, I'm sure, you'll all agree.

I remember they 3-1 win at Withdean it absolutely p*ssed down.

Zamoras goal hit the net so hard that the rain shot of it like a boxers sweat after a head punch.

That wasn't Meltons goal you are thinking about?

Well it pissed down the whole game so maybe all three goals had the same result. But I am sure Bobby put us one nil up by cutting back off the line and screaming the ball across the face of the goal just inside the righthand post into the side netting and the whole goalnet shook with water droplets lit up by the floodlights. Beautiful !
