Seems the same could be said about Rooney as is about Henry.

Both seem to rule at club level but fail at International level - why is that?

Their club managers are not clueless?

Not sure Domenech is as bad as Mclaren!

True although he did have players with brains on the pitch, which helps :)

ManU are a good TEAM and he flourishes in that environment. England are not a good TEAM, but are a collection of GOOD INDIVIDUALS.

It's not rocket science really. I put teams together at work for various projects, you have to choose the right range and combination of skills, talent and personality. You can't just pick the best people regardless of whether they can do the job in hand or whether they can work together - that's not good management. Why is this so hard for England manager's to grasp?

Just look at the evidence which backs this up.

Lampard & Gerrard are both (IMO) very good players. However, together, it just don't work. But add a bit of Hargreaves, and it clicks.

I think Rooney would play better with someone like Owen (shame as he may never make it back).

We also seem to lack either the determination of teams like Germany, or the passion of teams like Ireland. Some of these players believe too much of the hype around the permiership, which is flooded with quality foreign players, and too few English players. The last pleys who had this in abundance was Psycho.

I think Rooney would work best with Ashton. Someone who can hold the ball up and create space for Rooney to run into from deep.
