[Albion] Is our recruitment overrated?

Our injuries have been huge this year and I believe we have been top of that league all season . Teams such asNotts Forest have hardly had any by comparison. We have 10 out at the moment
Yep, and two of our biggest summer signings - O'Riley and Ferdi - have been very much affected. Got to hope we have more success with those guys next season.

Didn't find a better thread for this. Quite interesting the amount of trophy winners in clubs that normally do not win trophies. Our number seems low in comparison, but is obviously the result of mostly recruiting wonderkids (for the future that may or may not materialise).

I wonder what the class as a major trophy?

Welbeck and Milner must be 2 of the 3 players but I think estupinian has won the europa League and veltman has won multiple trophies in Holland.

I think mitoma wonthe League in Japan, too.

And didn't adingra win afcon?

I don't think our recruitment is overrated but a second season ruined by injuries suggests that our set-up in Lancing regarding training, medicine and rehabilitation is flawed... or we are just consistently unlucky

Recruitment like every aspect of football has to continually evolve and with every PL club now looking for the next big thing in South America and Chelsea just stockpiling young players our model has changed, we now look at different markets including the Championship.

I would say the weakest aspect of our recruitment has been in defense and I think that is where the focus should be for the next couple of windows

Veltman should count - he's won titles with Ajax

On the bottom of that list it says "TROPHIES = TOP-5 LEAGUE TITLE/CUP, UCL, UEL, EUROS, WC".

I agree. To the one that identifies good old fashion centre forwards. That can take delivery of crosses from our endless supply of wingers.
.....who are coached to stop, turn back and pass to keep possession, usually to work the ball out to the other wing (who then rinse and repeat).

Yes because that’s exactly the way to succeed in modern football. A good old big lump up top. Ideally a black fella.
