Yes. good idea initially by the club but the section has become a joke with the types that sit there. Better atmosphere in other parts of the ground these days.

As for getting behind the team, at 1 - 0 down the fans were about as up for it as the players. Thought the crowd was better once we equalised but the team then went gash again for 20 mins.....it is a 2 way thing.
I use to sit there but there are so many childish mongs there(who post on here as well)that it's simply embarassing.

The withdean atmosphere is actually not that bad. When you are in the SS, you don't appreciate it because you cannot hear the fans in blocks away to your sides but there IS an amosphere and you do hear it across the way in the north.

Indeed, you can sometimes hear the echo of the SS and I know people living in Withdean/Westdean and even up on Ditchling Road who can hear the crowd.

I think the crowd always start off quite lively but then it depends on how the team play. yesterday was good until 'pool scored and that deflated the team & the crowd.

I agree that our fans have been poor in their vocal support for the team this season, it hasn't been a recent thing as a result of our poor home record as claimed above, but has been happening all season and in seasons before that.

This season, the home crowd never really got behind the team, they only sat there and moaned if we were not winning within a few minutes of kick off, they single out players to slate, they moan that we have paid our money and we should be getting more value for it etc...

All the talk pre season and the end of last season was about making it cheaper by dramatically cutting ticket prices, even if it meant the club lost even more revenue than it is at the moment, something they couldn't really do. it has more to do with the credit crunch and people having less disposable income rather than high ticket prices.

Also some of it i believe is now down to expectations, the team has over achieved while at Withdean with promotion to the Championship, and now it has become a measure by some fans of the minimum we should be, anything lesss then we must be shit.

Some of it is due to Withdean, at first we were just happy to be back, but since then, people have started to moan, and others have listened and the anti Withdean feeling has grown. I personally go so that i can watch the team i support, not because of what the ground is like, its mjust a lame excuse imo

the main reason i believe is due to boredom and frustration, the novelty has warn off for some, the thought of Falmer has taken over, but with there being such a long time between returning to Brighton and the start of the building works at Falmer, fans have become restless.

the team need to lift the fans by doing something slightly alright. the didnt do that until the second half yesterday.

Quite. The team started brightly for the first twenty minutes, played it on the ground, posed a real attacking threat. Then swiftly resorted to dumb f*** hoofball. Which got the response from the fans it deserved. The substitutions in the second half gave us a second wind, both on and off the field.
