Is it worth scrimping on the cost of a Razor Blade

I always used to purchase Gillette Fusion or Wilkinson Quattro's, but have noticed the cost is a bit steep now (£7 - £10 depending on where you shop), so I changed to a Tesco own pack of three for about £4 and all they do it cut my face!!

I think its time to go back to the more expensive, cant deal with these cuts anymore that seem to bleed for hours!!

No.

Bought some cheap ones once and within 2 weeks all the skin round my mush had dried out and I got impetigo, which is highly unpleasant.

I cannot get on with cheapo razors, I use gilette sensor 3 and get 2/3 shaves out of one before I bin it. If I use it more or use cheap razors it's like I've shaved with a cheesegrater. I have friends though (obviously descended from hardier stock) with very leathery skin who can shave with any old rubbish.

keep using Gillette Fusion or Wilkinson Quattro's. much more confortable shave. i wouldnt use cheap shit ever! one thing i wont buy on the cheap!

i dont shave everyday as;
-i cant be arsed.
-facial hair doesnt grow that rapidly.
-when it does grow its only stubble and not some patchy beard that some get so looks ok anyway.
-my job doesnt require the clean look daily.

1 razor lasts me 2-3 weeks. shaving roughly 2-3 times a week.

I think you answer your own question

i think your right, I have two left and I reckon they can go in the bin, it does not matter how slow you take it, there's always a minimum of 2 cuts!!

Have you tried the King of Shaves razors? They give a great shave, I never cut myself and they last pretty well too.

I tried them, but could never get on with them. They never cut me, unfortunately they never really cut my facial hair either.

Finding a razor that suited me was an absolute nightmare. I settled on the gilette fusion proglide (non power).

Yes. I use BIC disposables and they do the job fine. Huck me ! I can't believe the price of some of the poncey flash razors.. Are you all suckers?
Also..here's a tip..soap and water work just as well as shaving foam.

Not changed the blade for 4 years, shaves just as close, doesn't cut me, am I missing something?

Every so often I am seduced to the money saving aspect of own brand blades. Always regret it on using them for the first time, persist for a bit, and then bin them for the best razor I have ever used, cheap or expensive. I give you the Gillett Sensor 2.
Times have moved on since my Dad used to send me up the road to Charlie Bullens shop when we lived in West Blatchington to buy him a razor blade. Can't remember how much they cost but he split packets and sold them singly. Twas about 55+ years ago mind.

I started using a King of Shaves "Azor" brand razor a while ago. It's not as cheap as own-brand, but it's much better quality, as you’d expect from the KoS brand. The blades are significantly cheaper than Gilette etc, and last a ridiculously long time. Might be worth a look if you're fed up of Gilette prices but don't trust proper cheapo options.

Edit: Oops, someone beat me to it. Still, they're my recommendation. I also suffered a few cuts when I first got it, but I never do anymore, I think you just need a couple of shaves to get used to it.

Another KoS Azor user - I buy them off E-Bay. Just checked and I bought 20 quids worth last April and I still have loads left.
I shave every day and I can't remember the last time I had a cut.

Only that if you were me, that thing would literally RIP your neck to shreds. For some reason, I can only wetshave.

did you keep the skin tight with an electric? and with rotary blades, keep it moving in circles, not straight lines

I have moved to electric, phillips 3d 1280 and it's fantastic

But I agree cheap blades cut me to bits. Mach 3 were the cheapest I could get away with. I used shaving oil, not gel or foam, which made a big difference
