My friend's 13-year-old son is a lovely lad deep down, but he's been hanging out with a few older troublemakers for the last couple of years and is now starting to instigate trouble himself.

He received a really nice hoodie for Christmas from Mrs ELS (I love wearing them, myself, from time to time) and he was chuffed to bits and really grateful. He then announced something along the lines of: "nice one, if I wear it like this [fiddled with the hood] it'll look really chav!"

Should I be worried?

Chavs are the lowest of the low; the scum of the earth; the dregs of our society, and a good argument for forcibly preventing some people from breeding.

They have absolutely no redeeming features, and nothing to contribute to society.

At least you obviously care about your son, so he's still 'saveable' - most chavs have totally useless, 'couldn't-care-less-what-my-kid-are-up-to-as-long-as-my-giro-arrives-on-time' parents - the ones who bleat that 'He's not a bad lad, really' after the scumbag has been charged with stabbing someone.

All these groups when they were "in" were seen as some sort of Untermench a stain on society and up to no good. He'll grow out of it, and trying to stop him will not work.

I think you already know the answer to that one.

Not only will he look stupid, sound stupid and act stupid, but he's in danger of growing up to be nothing more than an oik standing in the South stand, f'ing and blinding, looking for approval for his awful half pissed chants and being chav king of his local boozer.

However, if he's a smart kid, and as you say a lovely lad deep down, it might just be a phase and the upcoming focus of his education , the slog begins at 14, will make him think about what he wants to be and how :rescott:. Failing that he might fall for a girl/guy of some gumption and sense :safeway2:. Christ I'm glad mine are only 4 and 2.

Clearly, some twats choose to look chav. I saw a lad the other day, wearing a baseball cap (with the high top like B.A.D. used to wear to cover dreads), and had the obligatory staffordshire terrier and crap threads.
